VinFast is positioning its VF 8 Plus as more than a standard electric SUV. The vehicle includes a set of software-defined driving modes designed to address specific ownership scenarios, from pet safety to outdoor camping. Combined with a competitive warranty and broad charging access, VinFast is making a case for the VF 8 as a practical daily EV.

Smart Modes Address Real-World Scenarios
The VF 8’s Pet Mode allows owners to leave the air conditioning running while the vehicle is locked. A center display message informs bystanders that climate control remains active for the pet inside. Sarah, a Quebec-based VF 8 Plus owner, said the feature lets her make quick stops without bringing along her two-year-old dog, who gets anxious around strangers.
“It’s the little things like that that make me love my VF 8 even more,” she said.
Camp Mode takes a different approach. It keeps LED parking lights on and draws minimal battery power to run the sound system. Tom, a longtime ICE vehicle driver who recently switched to the VF 8, said the mode is well suited for late-night family gatherings outdoors.
“I love the smell of fresh grass in the morning,” Tom said. “Camp Mode lets me enjoy that.”
Additional modes include Valet Mode and Wash Mode, each configured to adapt vehicle behavior to specific situations.
Cabin Technology and Connectivity
The VF 8’s interior centers on a 15.6-inch customizable touchscreen that supports over-the-air updates. Entertainment options include Sony RideVu, which provides access to more than 2,000 films from Sony Pictures’ library. Hands-free voice assistance is powered by Amazon Alexa.
Smart services also allow drivers to manage connected home or work functions without leaving the vehicle interface. Meanwhile, the companion app consolidates public charging access across North America, covering roughly 95% of available stations.
Safety and ADAS Equipment
The VF 8 includes a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems alongside 11 airbags. These cover dual-stage front airbags for driver and passenger, knee airbags, side-impact airbags, and seat-mounted side airbags.
Warranty and Market Context
VinFast backs the VF 8 with a 10-year or 200,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and a 10-year unlimited-distance battery warranty under standard use. That level of coverage exceeds what most competitors currently offer.
In its home market of Vietnam, VinFast recorded 27,649 EV deliveries in December alone. The company said that figure represents the highest monthly sales total ever achieved by any single automaker in the country.
