Volkswagen ID.7 Tops ADAC Vehicle Test

Volkswagen’s ID.7 has achieved a historic milestone in the prestigious ADAC vehicle test, earning the highest rating ever awarded by the organization. The all-electric ID.7 scored an impressive 1.5 overall, making it the first vehicle to receive a ‘very good’ rating.

Key Highlights:

  • First-ever ‘very good’ rating by ADAC
  • Overall score: 1.5
  • Top scores in engine/drive (1.0), safety (1.1), and environment (1.2)
  • Tested by Europe’s largest automobile club

Each year, experts from the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V. (ADAC) rigorously test around 100 vehicles, evaluating them based on over 350 criteria across seven main categories. This year, the Volkswagen ID.7 excelled, particularly in the categories of engine/drive, safety, and environment, where it scored 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2, respectively.

Volkswagen’s ID.7 is the flagship model of the all-electric ID. family. It stood out in the ADAC test for its exceptional performance and comprehensive features. The ID.7’s notable achievements include a perfect score in the engine/drive category, a near-perfect safety rating, and excellent environmental performance. In the comfort category, it scored 1.5, while driving characteristics, body/luggage compartment, and interior received ratings of 2.1, 2.3, and 2.4, respectively, all deemed ‘good’.

Kai Grünitz, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Technical Development at Volkswagen, stated, “We are very proud and delighted with this fantastic result. The vehicle test performed by the ADAC is extremely important and is held in very high regard in view of the organization’s status as an independent body. In this respect, I am convinced that this rating can play a part in persuading a large number of potential customers to opt for our all-electric saloon.”

The vehicle tested was a Volkswagen ID.7 Pro with an output of 210 kW (286 PS). The ID.7 Pro impressed with its high energy efficiency, boasting a consumption of just 18.1 kWh/100 km in the combined operation part of the ADAC Ecotest. This efficiency led to a remarkable score of 0.7 in the ‘Consumption/CO2’ sub-category, earning it a full five-star rating in the Ecotest.

In addition to its performance, the ID.7 Pro’s safety features received high marks, particularly in the ‘Active safety – Assistance systems’ sub-category, which scored 0.6. Furthermore, the ID.7 Pro is competitively priced, starting at 53,995 euros, making it more affordable than many of its top-rated competitors.

Dino Silvestro, Head of Vehicle Testing at the ADAC Technology Centre, remarked, “For us, it’s great to see that safety, efficiency and comfort are not just a question of price. Due to our comprehensive testing methods with modern test laboratories, our vehicle test is one of the ADAC’s most comprehensive consumer protection tests and enables all test results to be compared without restriction – regardless of the vehicle class and price.”

This historic achievement by Volkswagen’s ID.7 in the ADAC vehicle test underscores the car’s exceptional qualities and reaffirms its position as a leader in the all-electric vehicle market.
