Volkswagen has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the ID.7 Tourer, marking a significant addition to the upper mid-sized class. This all-new estate car distinguishes itself as one of the first all-electric models in its category, complementing the existing Passat Variant. Together, these models span a comprehensive range of drivetrains, including efficient petrol and diesel engines, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles. The ID.7 Tourer, in particular, is celebrated for its zero emissions, extensive range (up to 685 km WLTP), and spacious interior, positioning it as an exemplary choice for business use. Presales across Europe are anticipated to commence in the early part of this year.
Imelda Labbé, a key figure at Volkswagen, emphasized the vehicle’s appeal to families and long-distance travelers, citing its “ample space and high comfort level.” Manufactured in Emden, Germany, alongside its counterparts, the ID.7 fastback saloon and ID.4 SUV, the ID.7 Tourer represents a blend of traditional estate functionality and the dynamic appeal of a shooting brake.
Design-wise, the ID.7 Tourer stands out with its elongated roofline and elegant rear, offering a cargo capacity of up to 605 liters with seats up and 1,714 liters when fully loaded. It’s equipped with cutting-edge electric drive systems, offering two battery size options and promising WLTP ranges of up to 685 km. The larger battery supports fast charging up to 200 kW, allowing for rapid recharging.
A notable feature is the standard augmented-reality (AR) head-up display, enhancing safety and convenience by projecting essential information into the driver’s line of sight. This innovation aligns with the vehicle’s sleek cockpit design, which minimizes traditional instruments in favor of more compact solutions.

Volkswagen also introduces the Wellness In-Car app in the ID.7 Tourer, which elevates passenger comfort to premium levels. The app controls a variety of vehicle functions through preconfigured programs designed to improve wellbeing during travel. Features include automated vents, ergoActive seats with massage functions, a panoramic sunroof with smart glass, and more, all aimed at enhancing the in-car experience.
This expansion of Volkswagen’s electric fleet with the ID.7 Tourer underlines the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility, combining eco-friendliness with luxury and practicality in a single package.
