Volkswagen opens UK order books for the ID. Polo on July 30, 2026, with limited-edition launch models priced from £25,555 (about $34,116) on the road. Series-production Life and Style versions follow on September 10, 2026, starting at £23,945 (about $31,967). The ID. Polo is a front-wheel-drive supermini — a subcompact by US classification — offered with two battery sizes and a WLTP combined range of up to 281 miles. Volkswagen says every 52 kWh, 211 PS (208 hp) variant qualifies for the UK government’s £1,500 (about $2,002) Electric Car Grant.

Launch Editions Lead the UK Rollout
Two limited-edition versions open the UK order books: the ID. Polo Life Launch Edition and the ID. Polo Style Launch Edition. Factory orders from July 30 cover a single battery and output combination — 52 kWh and 211 PS (208 hp). The Life Launch Edition with the 37 kWh battery and 135 PS (133 hp) is available from existing stock only.
Launch Edition equipment on Life models includes two-zone air conditioning, heated front seats and a heated multifunction steering wheel. The Style Launch Edition adds a panoramic glass roof, massage front seats, Area View camera, Travel Assist, Park Assist Pro and rear privacy glass.
Series-production cars arriving in September drop the enhanced specification at slightly lower prices. Standard equipment on ID. Polo Life includes parking sensors, driving mode selection, a rear-view camera, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone charging with AppConnect and a height-adjustable trunk floor. ID. Polo Style adds IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, illuminated logos and a front light bar, ID.Light interior ambient lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, sports comfort front seats, and accelerator and brake pedals marked with “play” and “pause” symbols.

Battery, Range and Charging
The 37 kWh pack uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, while the 52 kWh pack uses nickel manganese cobalt (NMC). Motor outputs run 85 kW / 116 PS (114 hp), 99 kW / 135 PS (133 hp) and 155 kW / 211 PS (208 hp).

Maximum AC charging is 11 kW across the range, and vehicle-to-load power capability is available as an option. Range figures are quoted on the WLTP combined cycle, which typically returns higher numbers than the EPA testing used in North America.
What Does the MEB+ Platform Change?
The ID. Polo is the first Volkswagen ID. model with front-wheel drive; previous ID. cars have used rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Volkswagen says the MEB+ platform allows a flat floor and tighter packaging, and that the resulting interior space exceeds that of comparable combustion-engine models. The car seats five and offers up to 441 liters (15.6 cubic feet) of luggage capacity, which the company says is more than either the current ID.3 or the Golf.
Interior and Driver Assistance
The cabin introduces Volkswagen’s Pure Positive design language, built around physical controls and a digital layout with displays aligned on a single visual axis. Retro display modes are available that render the infotainment screen and digital cockpit in a style referencing the original Golf.
Optional equipment includes electronically adjustable massage seats, a Harman Kardon sound system on Style models, and Connected Travel Assist, which supports assisted driving using online data and, according to Volkswagen, can recognize and respond to traffic lights within system limits.
Chassis and Brake System
The ID. Polo uses a newly developed chassis that Volkswagen says blends comfort and dynamism, paired with a new brake system the company describes as improving pedal feel and regenerative braking control. The ID. Polo was the first vehicle conceived, developed and brought to market under the combined leadership of Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer and brand design head Andreas Mindt.
