Unveiling the anticipated Volkswagen Tiguan, a state-of-the-art SUV blending premium technologies with enhanced electric range. Learn about the revolutionary features that put this model at the forefront of automotive innovation.

What’s Happening

Volkswagen is on the brink of launching the third generation of its best-selling model, the Tiguan. As part of the final testing phase, the new model promises the integration of HD Matrix headlights, advanced active suspension control, and a cutting-edge cockpit and infotainment system. Underpinned by the latest evolutionary stage of the modular transverse matrix platform, MQB evo, the vehicle is set to achieve electric ranges of up to 100 kilometers with its plug-in hybrid drive. The world premiere is set for the autumn of 2023, with the market launch scheduled for 2024.

Why It Matters

Since its debut in 2007, the Tiguan has become a cornerstone of Volkswagen’s global success, with over 7.4 million units sold worldwide. This latest generation signifies a complete relaunch, boasting technologies usually found in premium class models. Kai Grünitz, member of the Brand Board of Management responsible for Technical Development, noted that the new Tiguan incorporates “state-of-the-art technology components” that exceed driver expectations.

Key Points

Among the Tiguan’s new features, the IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights stand out as an industry-first in its class. This lighting technology has been developed in unison for the Tiguan and the premium-class Touareg. The SUV also features an intuitive infotainment system and a cockpit with a display of up to 38 centimeters (15 inches) that provides easy access to essential functions.

The new Tiguan boasts an electronically controlled suspension for enhanced comfort and dynamism and is exclusively offered with an automated shift gearbox (DSG). Furthermore, it is equipped with different drive types, including TDI, TSI, eTSI, and eHybrid, owing to the MQB evo platform.

Bottom Line

The third generation Tiguan is set to revolutionize Volkswagen’s SUV offering, presenting the best of both worlds: premium features and increased efficiency. With this model, the automaker seeks to reaffirm its commitment to cutting-edge innovation and user-friendly design, aiming to set new industry standards and bolster its market position. The wait for the full reveal of the revamped Tiguan ends this autumn, with a market launch anticipated in 2024.
