Wallbox has announced the Supernova PowerRing, a new addition to its fast-charging portfolio. The system can deliver up to 400 kW to a single vehicle. It features a total shared system capacity of up to 720 kW. It is designed for destination and semi-public charging sites.
Highlights
- Delivers up to 400 kW to a single charging outlet.
- Features a modular, shared system capacity of up to 720 kW.
- Connects up to three Supernova units (six outlets) to pool unused power.
- Rollout begins Q1 2026 in select European markets.
System Architecture and Power Distribution
Supernova PowerRing functions as a connected system of multiple Supernova DC fast chargers. The system is designed to share energy intelligently between these units.
It pools unused power from across the connected units. This architecture ensures each outlet delivers optimal performance based on real-time demand.
This design aims to maximize installed capacity for site operators. It also helps reduce idle energy and infrastructure costs.
Technical Specifications and Scalability
The system dynamically distributes power across multiple charging points to optimize uptime and efficiency. Each setup can be scaled to match specific site requirements.
Key system specifications include:
- System Connections: Up to three Supernova units.
- Outlets: Up to six outlets per PowerRing system.
- Scalable Capacities: 240 kW, 480 kW, or 720 kW.
“Operators need charging systems that make economic sense today while being ready for the future,” said Eduard Castañeda, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Wallbox.
Phased Capability Rollout
The system’s capabilities will be introduced in distinct phases. The first phase enables power sharing between units, allocating unused power where it is needed most.
A subsequent phase will permit power sharing even when one connector is already in use.
Later phases will add intelligent power-sharing algorithms. These algorithms will distribute energy across entire sites to optimize performance and efficiency.
Market Application and Availability
The system is intended for diverse environments, including urban retail centers, petrol stations, and commercial parking sites.
Its design allows operators “to serve more drivers with less space, less cost, and less complexity,” according to Castañeda.
The Supernova PowerRing rollout is expected to start in Q1 2026.
Initial markets include Southern Europe, Benelux, and the UK/Ireland. Expansion into additional markets, including the United States, will follow.
