Wallbox has launched the new Pulsar Pro, an AC charger now available across the European Union that builds MID-certified energy metering directly into the unit to simplify EV charging reimbursement. The Barcelona-based company positions the new Pulsar Pro for homes, shared residential buildings, workplaces, and company-car charging — settings where tracking who pays for which kilowatt-hour has become a growing operational problem. Corporate vehicles account for around 60% of new car registrations across the EU, according to the European Commission, while the International Council on Clean Transportation estimates that roughly 80% of EV charging happens at home, at work, or at depot facilities.
Highlights
- MID-certified metering built in. The charger meets the EU’s Measuring Instruments Directive and tracks charging sessions without separate external metering hardware.
- Reimbursement tooling across app and portal. Drivers generate charging-reimbursement reports through the Wallbox App, while fleet managers get a centralized view of activity across users, vehicles, and locations in the Wallbox Portal.
- EU availability now, wider rollout in 2027. Pulsar Pro is on sale across the European Union, with UK and North American availability expected in 2027.
- A large addressable base. Corporate vehicles make up around 60% of new EU car registrations, and about 80% of EV charging happens at home, work, or depot, per the European Commission and the ICCT respectively.
A Charger Built Around Reimbursement
As EV adoption spreads across homes, workplaces, depots, shared residential buildings, and fleets, charging has become more distributed — and harder to account for. Wallbox positions the new Pulsar Pro as a way to close that gap. By integrating MID-certified energy metering directly into the charger, the company says the unit can accurately track charging sessions without additional external metering hardware. Wallbox notes this matters most in markets where certified metering is already required, or increasingly expected, to support reimbursement.
“As electric mobility expands, charging reimbursement is becoming an important need across homes, workplaces, fleets, and shared residential environments,” said Eduard Castañeda, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Wallbox. “With the new Pulsar Pro, we are helping make this process simpler, more transparent, and easier to manage for drivers, employers, fleet operators, installers, and property managers.”
How Drivers and Fleets Manage Charging Data
Through the Wallbox App, drivers can generate charging-reimbursement reports, configure electricity tariffs, register RFID cards, and send charging data directly to employers, fleet managers, or operators. For those managing multiple vehicles, the Wallbox Portal provides a centralized view of charging activity across users, vehicles, locations, and fleets, consolidating reimbursement management across home, workplace, and shared environments. It is the same fleet and depot audience Wallbox recently targeted through a Europe-wide taxi-charging deal with Freenow by Lyft, which bundled discounted Pulsar Pro hardware for professional drivers.
Smart Charging and Compliance Features
Beyond reimbursement, Pulsar Pro carries Wallbox’s broader smart-charging tool set:
- Solar charging integration for pairing the charger with on-site generation.
- Dynamic load balancing to manage available power.
- Remote management and user access controls for shared sites.
- AFIR compliance, supporting the EU’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation as charging rules evolve.
The launch is part of a broader European push that recently included Wallbox’s first Supernova PowerRing fast-charging site near Barcelona.
Where and When It’s Available
Pulsar Pro is available across the European Union now. Wallbox expects the charger to reach the UK and North America in 2027.
