Wallbox, a prominent provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy management solutions, has entered into a new collaboration with charge point operator PowerGo. The partnership aims to accelerate the installation of essential EV charging infrastructure at Essendi hotels throughout the Netherlands. This initiative combines Wallbox’s sophisticated charging technology with PowerGo’s infrastructure, which is powered by renewable energy, to meet the country’s increasing need for sustainable transportation options.
Key Highlights
- Wallbox and PowerGo are collaborating to deploy EV charging solutions across hotels in the Netherlands.
- The project includes the installation of Wallbox’s Em4 AC chargers and Supernova DC fast chargers.
- Initial installations are now operational at the Mercure Amsterdam City and Novotel Amsterdam City.
- Future installations are planned for hotels in North and South Holland, including locations at Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam.
- PowerGo’s charging network is sustainably powered by solar energy from its parent company, PowerField.
Advanced Technology Meets Green Energy
The collaboration will feature the deployment of two key Wallbox products: the Em4, a durable AC charger built for high-use public areas, and the Supernova, the company’s efficient DC fast charger. Both models are engineered for a seamless user experience, offering remote management capabilities and integration with renewable energy sources. This aligns perfectly with PowerGo’s commitment to providing green charging solutions powered by solar energy.
“Collaboration with PowerGo aims to deliver high-performance charging experiences in key locations, combining smart features, ease of use and robust design,” stated Eduard Castañeda, Chief Fast Charging Officer and Co-Founder of Wallbox.
Project Rollout and Future Expansion
The partnership has already achieved significant milestones. The first operational installation was completed at the Mercure Amsterdam City, where guests can access six 22 kW AC charging points. Two 150 kW DC fast chargers are also planned for the location pending an upgraded grid connection. In June, the Novotel Amsterdam City followed, launching two 150 kW DC chargers and six 22 kW AC chargers.
These successful installations represent the beginning of a potentially widespread rollout across Essendi’s hotel portfolio. Upcoming projects are scheduled for several hotel sites in the provinces of North and South Holland. Key locations include the Ibis and Ibis Budget Amsterdam Airport hotels at Schiphol and the Novotel in Rotterdam Brainpark.
A Commitment to Sustainable Mobility
PowerGo, a subsidiary of solar energy firm PowerField, operates an extensive network of over 1,700 public charging points across seven European nations. The company ensures a truly sustainable charging experience by powering its entire network with solar energy generated from PowerField’s solar parks.
“By combining their technology with our solutions, we provide our partners and EV drivers with a reliable and future-proof charging experience,” said Sander Bos, Project Manager for PowerGo. “This collaboration is a great step towards making electric mobility more accessible and supporting a greener future.”
This strategic alliance leverages in-house expertise and key partnerships to accelerate the availability of fast, public EV charging infrastructure, driving the future of sustainable travel in the region.
