Wallbox, a leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has announced that its Supernova DC fast charger has been successfully certified under Germany’s Eichrecht regulation. This certification is a major milestone for Wallbox, supporting its growth in the German market and enhancing its position in the DC fast charging sector. The Supernova boasts the highest Power-to-Footprint ratio in Wallbox’s lineup.

Key Highlights:

  • Eichrecht certification is essential for selling chargers in the public market segment in Germany and is also favored in Austria and Switzerland.
  • Certification provides opportunities to expand Wallbox’s presence in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
  • Germany is expected to have 22,000 DC fast chargers by the end of the year, with over 150,000 more projected in the next decade.
  • Supernova is now Wallbox’s third product to achieve Eichrecht compliance and the first DC fast charger in their portfolio to receive this certification.

The Eichrecht certification is a vital requirement for companies aiming to participate in Germany’s public charging sector. It assures consumers of the accuracy and reliability of energy measurement, ensuring trust and transparency in billing. This reputation has led to increased investment in certified infrastructure throughout the DACH region, providing a competitive edge to Wallbox as it expands into these markets.

According to industry research from Rho Motion, Germany, which is Europe’s largest EV charging market, is projected to see exponential growth in the number of DC fast chargers. By the end of this year, over 22,000 DC fast chargers are expected, with an estimated 150,000 units to be sold within the next ten years, representing 680% growth.

Wallbox CEO Enric Asunción remarked on this significant achievement, stating, “With Germany’s expansion of EV infrastructure, dependable fast-charging solutions such as Supernova will be crucial to support the rising demand for quick and efficient charging options. Supernova’s Eichrecht certification in Germany underscores the advanced technology and precision engineering behind our DC fast charger and will open doors for Wallbox in Germany and the broader DACH region.”

The certification process for Eichrecht is a multi-phase assessment, ensuring that all public EV chargers in Germany that charge users for energy meet stringent accuracy and transparency requirements. Wallbox’s Supernova DC fast charger is now part of a distinguished group of chargers that meet these standards, adding credibility and attractiveness to its offerings in the public charging segment.
