Wallbox, a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging technology, has announced the North American launch of its third-generation DC fast EV charger, the Supernova 180. This cutting-edge charger is designed with reliability and scalability at its core, following the successful European release of the Supernova 60 and Supernova 150. The Supernova 180 offers high-power charging capabilities within a small footprint, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of locations across North America.

The Supernova 180 stands out for its high power-to-dimension ratio, delivering up to 180 kW of charging power. This enables it to add approximately 100 miles of range in under 10 minutes, addressing the need for fast, efficient charging infrastructure as the adoption of EVs continues to grow. Its modular design not only ensures improved performance and uptime but also supports easy, cost-effective installations across various sites, including those with limited space.

Wallbox’s commitment to excellence is further demonstrated through the Supernova 180’s award-winning design, having received the Good Design Award and IF Design Award. Its minimalist and modern aesthetic allows it to integrate seamlessly into both public and urban environments. Additionally, the charger is built to support a broad range of EVs, compatible with CCS1 and NACS connectors, slated for availability in 2024.

The Supernova 180 incorporates innovative features to enhance the user experience, such as the ability to charge two EVs simultaneously with intelligent power management. This split charging capability maximizes the charger’s utility and return on investment while improving the overall charging experience. The unit is equipped with a robust 10” sunlight-readable color screen, offering an intuitive user interface and various payment options for ease of use.

Erik Fogelberg, General Manager of Wallbox North America, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “With its high power, versatility, and award-winning design, it sets a new standard for fast charging infrastructure.” He emphasized the charger’s role in accelerating the EV transition in North America by addressing key barriers such as reliability and accessibility.

The Supernova 180’s introduction is part of Wallbox’s broader mission to transform the way the world uses energy, offering advanced charging and energy management solutions across over 115 countries. This launch underscores Wallbox’s dedication to innovating within the EV ecosystem, making sustainable transportation more accessible and convenient.
