Wallbox, a renowned global entity in electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy management, has achieved a significant milestone with its Supernova 180 charger, securing the UL 2202 product certification for North America. This certification, overseen by SGS North America Inc., marks a critical step for Supernova 180’s entry into the North American market. UL 2202, the principal standard for safety in DC EV chargers in North America, guarantees the charger’s safety and efficiency.
Till Wilmschen, Wallbox’s Director of Fast Charging, expressed enthusiasm about this achievement. “We’re thrilled to have reached this milestone for Supernova 180 in just nine months, which is a testament to our in-house engineering expertise and our capacity for rapid innovation,” he said. He highlighted the significance of this certification in demonstrating Wallbox’s commitment to industry standards and its contribution to the evolution of EV charging technology. The company has sold nearly 2,000 Supernova chargers globally, with over 150,000 charging sessions since its launch last year.

Tailored for North American needs, the Supernova 180 is a DC fast charger designed with a modular approach to optimize reliability, installation, and maintenance costs. Capable of delivering up to 180 kW of power, it can add 100 miles of range in less than 10 minutes. Its compact design enables installation in space-constrained locations like gas stations, high-power charge hubs, car dealerships, and shopping malls. Notably, Supernova can charge two EVs simultaneously with split-charge configurations and supports all vehicle makes, models, and charging standards, including CCS and NACS. It also offers extensive customization options for branding.
Wallbox reports a substantial backlog of orders for the Supernova 180, primarily from strategic partners. The company anticipates beginning deliveries of the product within this quarter.
