XCharge North America and Energy Plus have announced plans to develop a large-scale battery-backed EV charging depot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The project, scheduled to become operational in Q2 2026, will feature 44 XCharge GridLink units providing 9.46 MWh of energy storage capacity across 88 parking spaces.
Highlights
- 44 GridLink units will deliver 9.46 MWh of battery storage capacity serving 88 charging spaces in Brooklyn
- Battery-integrated design enables off-peak energy storage and peak-demand discharge to reduce grid strain
- Eplug brand will operate the site as part of a planned expansion to other major U.S. cities
- Fleet solutions will offer dedicated services for commercial operators requiring predictable scheduling and high uptime
Grid-Integrated Charging Technology
The project utilizes XCharge NA’s GridLink technology, which incorporates battery storage to address grid constraints in high-demand urban environments. The system draws energy during off-peak periods and discharges during peak demand, a strategy intended to support grid resilience and manage electricity costs.
GridLink’s bidirectional energy flow capability provides decentralized power distribution. This approach aims to reduce strain on local infrastructure during periods of elevated electricity demand.

Eplug Urban Charging Network
Energy Plus will operate the facility under its Eplug brand, a charging network designed for dense metropolitan areas. The company has outlined plans to expand the model to additional U.S. cities beyond New York.
Key elements of the Eplug network include:
- Transparent pricing structure with a planned loyalty program
- Local business partnerships at each charging location
- Compact footprint suited to urban environments
- Fleet-specific services supporting commercial electrification
Commercial Fleet Applications
Beyond consumer charging, the Williamsburg depot will provide dedicated fleet solutions. These services target commercial operators with features designed for predictable scheduling, rapid turnaround times, and high equipment availability.
The fleet offering supports both daily operational requirements and longer-term electrification planning for commercial vehicle operators.
