12 North American Universities Join Battery Workforce Challenge

EV Battery Innovation Starts with Education and Partnerships

The Battery Workforce Challenge, a collaborative program between the U.S. Department of Energy, Stellantis, and Argonne National Laboratory, announced 12 participating universities and their vocational partners for its first-ever collegiate competition.

Focusing on hands-on learning and industry collaboration, the three-year competition challenges student teams to design, build, test, and integrate an advanced EV battery into a future Stellantis vehicle. The winning team will receive $100,000 in prize money, industry-related awards, and invaluable networking opportunities.

The program aims to inspire a diverse and skilled workforce for the EV industry, supporting the U.S. goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 and Stellantis’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2038.
