HEVO Inc. has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,703,258 B2 covering a networked wireless charging system in which charging stations, location-enabled vehicles, and a centralized server coordinate charging sessions. The patent, titled “Systems and Mobile Application for Electric Wireless Charging Stations,” extends the Brooklyn-based company’s intellectual property from station hardware into software-managed charging infrastructure and vehicle connectivity. HEVO, which describes itself as a Tier 1 supplier of its Rezonant wireless charging hardware and Journey software platform, says the grant follows its recent dynamic roadway charging patent, giving it coverage across both stationary and in-motion wireless power transfer.

How Does the Patented Charging Network Work?
The system centers on communication between three elements: charging stations, vehicles equipped with location data, and a centralized server. According to HEVO, a vehicle requests wireless charging service and the server evaluates which stations are available, operational, unoccupied, and nearest to the vehicle before recommending and coordinating a session.
Stations and vehicles also exchange occupancy changes, reservation status, and operating conditions across the connected network. The company says the patent covers the following capabilities:

HEVO reports the system is designed to serve both passenger and commercial vehicles by selecting stations on availability, operational status, and vehicle location.
Safety Functions in the Patent
The patent includes foreign object detection and the automatic discontinuation of wireless power transfer when an object is detected near a charging session. HEVO says these features are intended to improve operational reliability and user safety.
Expanding the Wireless Charging Patent Portfolio
The network-management grant follows the award of U.S. Patent No. 12,700,758 B2, “Systems and Methods for Dynamic Roadway Charging.” That patent covers systems that deliver wireless power to electric vehicles traveling along roadways with embedded charging infrastructure. HEVO says its key elements include continuous wireless power transfer, wireless energy exchange between adjacent charging segments, and bidirectional energy flow supporting vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-infrastructure applications.
Together, the company says, the two patents cover distinct layers of the wireless charging ecosystem: the network patent addresses software, communications, vehicle connectivity, and infrastructure orchestration, while the roadway patent addresses delivery of power to vehicles in motion. HEVO frames the pairing as supporting reduced operational complexity, higher vehicle uptime, and faster adoption of electric, connected, and autonomous transportation.
HEVO also characterizes the new grant as a shift in its IP strategy. Earlier patents in the family were directed primarily at structural and hardware aspects of wireless charging stations; this one extends protection to network management capabilities that let vehicles, infrastructure, and software platforms operate as a unified system. The company has previously outlined automated depot and fleet charging as its primary commercial target for the Rezonant and Journey platforms.

HEVO says it expects wireless power transfer to play a role in automated depot operations, autonomous vehicle charging, fleet management, vehicle-to-grid services, distributed energy integration, and future roadway electrification as transportation becomes more connected, electric, and autonomous.
