Performance and Charging
The Black Ink edition uses the top IONIQ 9 powertrain. It pairs a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system rated at 422 horsepower (314.6 kW) with 516 lb-ft of torque. Energy comes from a 110.3-kWh battery built on Hyundai’s 800-volt E-GMP architecture.
That voltage allows 350-kW ultra-fast DC charging. Under optimal conditions, drivers can replenish the pack from 10% to 80% in about 24 minutes. A native NACS port provides direct access to compatible Tesla Supercharger sites, broadening the public charging network available to owners.
Exclusive Black Ink Design
Hyundai positions the variant as its most luxurious electric SUV to date. Available in Abyss Black Pearl, the model carries a coordinated set of dark exterior elements that distinguish it from other Calligraphy trims.
Exterior treatments include a black chrome front skid plate and rear garnish, gloss black roof rails, black window moldings, black inner door handles, and a black front Hyundai emblem. The variant also features black 21-inch Turbine Design alloy wheels reserved exclusively for this trim.

Cabin Materials
Inside, the cabin uses a black colorway throughout the seating upholstery, steering wheel, and aluminum interior trim. The aluminum trim carries an organic, handcrafted pattern unique to Black Ink. An eco-suede headliner, made from corn-derived sustainable fibers, lines the roof.
The standard layout seats six. Relaxation Seats with power recline and ventilation are fitted in the first and second rows, and the third row gains heated seating. Heated third-row seats are a new addition for the 2027 model year on the Calligraphy trim.
Technology Suite
The IONIQ 9 Black Ink carries the full Calligraphy technology package. A 10-inch head-up display, 14-speaker Bose audio system, full-display digital rearview mirror, panoramic roof, and integrated front and rear dash cam are all standard. Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 supports automated low-speed maneuvering.
The cabin also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality and 100-watt-capable USB-C ports across all three rows. These features carry over from the rest of the IONIQ 9 Calligraphy lineup, where the AWD Performance Calligraphy Design currently lists for $76,490.

Executive Comment
“The 2027 IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink stands as Hyundai’s most luxurious electric SUV to date, delivering class‑leading performance, show‑stopping design, and the highest expression of the brand’s design and technological capability,” said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America.
The Black Ink edition follows a string of awards for the IONIQ 9 platform, including the World’s Best Large SUV title at the 2026 WWCOTY Awards and Electric SUV of Texas honors from the Texas Auto Writers Association. Pricing for the 2027 Black Ink variant was not disclosed at unveil.
