Toyota says the compact battery electric SUV is expected to begin arriving at dealerships in September, returning in SE and XSE grades with standard all-wheel drive. The company rates the 74.7-kWh pack at a manufacturer-estimated 287 miles of range on the SE grade with 18-inch wheels and 273 miles on the XSE with 20-inch wheels.

Pricing and Availability
Toyota describes the 2027 model as unchanged from the previous model year, which introduced the C-HR in battery electric form. The company says the model was developed from a compact BEV concept it first presented in 2022, and positions it as one of three battery electric vehicles that sit alongside its hybrid and plug-in hybrid models under what Toyota calls a multi-pathway approach to electrification.
Powertrain and Charging
The C-HR uses electric motors housed in the front and rear eAxles, producing 338 net combined system horsepower and 198/125 lb-ft of torque from the front and rear units. Toyota estimates a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds. The underfloor-mounted battery pack and a cross-framing structure contribute to a low center of gravity, and Toyota says suspension components including spring and damper performance and anti-roll bar stiffness were tuned for the vehicle.
The lithium-ion pack holds 74.7 kWh and pairs with an 11-kW onboard AC charger. The NACS charging port supports Level 3 DC fast charging, and Toyota says the battery can recharge from 10 percent to 80 percent in around 30 minutes under ideal conditions. Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging are also supported, and a dual-voltage charging cable is standard.
Additional charging functions include:
- Plug & Charge at supported networks, which requires an active Remote Connect trial or subscription
- Battery preconditioning, activated manually in system settings or automatically by setting a fast-charging station as the navigation destination, the latter requiring an active Drive Connect trial or subscription
- Four-level regenerative braking, adjusted through steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters
SE and XSE Grades
Standard equipment on the SE grade includes 18-inch wheels with black inserts, a power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, low-profile roof rails, Fabric/SofTex-trimmed seating with an 8-way power driver seat and 6-way manual passenger seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, a 14-inch touchscreen with the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, two front wireless Qi chargers, four USB Type-C ports, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking, and Blind Spot Monitor.
The XSE grade adds 20-inch gunmetal-finished wheels, SofTex and synthetic suede-trimmed seats, an 8-way power passenger seat, a driver memory seat, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, and a Panoramic View Monitor. A panoramic fixed glass roof with power sunshade and a nine-speaker JBL premium audio system with amplifier are available on the XSE. Traffic Jam Assist requires an active Drive Connect trial or subscription.
Design, Interior and Technology
Like the bZ and bZ Woodland, the C-HR is built on Toyota’s e-TNGA battery electric vehicle platform. Overall length measures 177.9 inches, width 73.6 inches, height 63.8 inches, and the wheelbase 108.3 inches. Rear storage space reaches up to 59.5 cubic feet with the 60/40 split rear seats folded flat.
The 14-inch touchscreen runs the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, developed by the Texas-based Toyota Connected team, with six standard speakers and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Interior technology includes dual Qi wireless charging, multiple USB-C ports, a 1500W AC outlet in the rear cargo area, a top-mount Multi-Information Display, and a 7-inch customizable LCD display carrying speedometer, charge meter, power output and drive mode readouts.
The 2027 C-HR includes five-year trials for Safety Connect, Service Connect and Remote Connect, plus a 30-day/3 GB Wi-Fi Connect trial, with additional services such as Drive Connect available depending on grade through Toyota Connected Services. Both grades are Toyota Digital Key capable, and owners can use the Toyota app to check charging status, start or stop charging, and locate nearby charging stations.
Safety and Warranty
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on both grades and includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Safe Exit Alert and the Toyota Star Safety System are also fitted.
Toyota’s 36-month/36,000-mile basic new-vehicle warranty applies to all components other than normal wear and maintenance items. Powertrain coverage runs 60 months/60,000 miles, with 60-month corrosion coverage carrying no mileage limitation. Electric Vehicle Driving Components, including the traction battery, are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. ToyotaCare covers factory-scheduled maintenance for one year or 10,000 miles and includes three years of roadside assistance regardless of mileage.
