GAC’s AION brand enters the United Kingdom with the all-electric AION V family SUV, opening pre-orders on 23 April at £36,450 (about $49,260) on-the-road. The launch is led by AION Auto UK, a joint venture between GAC and Jameel Motors, and pairs the vehicle with an eight-year ownership package covering warranty, servicing, roadside assistance, and MOT. PCP finance begins at £379 per month (roughly $512) at 2.9% APR representative through AION Financial Services.

Powertrain and charging
The AION V uses a 75.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. AION reports a WLTP range of 317 miles — a figure the company describes as class-leading for a standard-fit battery pack in the segment — and DC fast-charging from 30% to 80% state of charge in 18 minutes. A heat pump manages battery thermal conditioning. WLTP figures are European test-cycle values and should not be compared directly with EPA ratings, which typically return lower real-world numbers.
Suspension has been specifically calibrated for UK roads, according to the company, though no third-party ride-and-handling data has been published to support the claim.
Pricing, trims, and options
The £36,450 starting price covers a single headline specification with either Wilderness Sand metallic or Arctic White pearlescent paint at no cost. Three further metallic finishes — Galaxy Blue, Night Shadow Black, and Sea Fluorescent Grey — are available for £675 (about $912).
A £1,495 (roughly $2,020) Premium Pack adds:
- Leather seating
- A 6.6-litre CoolHot Box
- Massage front seats
- A rear seatback tray table
- Access to Holographic Silver paint at £675 and two additional interior colour themes (French Cream or Bright Tan) at £195 (about $264) each
Standard cabin equipment includes a panoramic roof, double-glazed front windows, electrically adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, heated reclining rear seats, a 14.6-inch touchscreen on a Qualcomm Snapdragon platform, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a nine-speaker 360-watt audio system. Boot capacity is quoted at 472 litres to VDA standard with the rear seats upright.
The AION Great 8 ownership package
AION is positioning the ownership package as the launch’s differentiator. The AION Great 8 provides eight years of warranty, servicing, MOT, and roadside assistance, and is tied to the vehicle identification number rather than the first owner. AION says the package transfers with the car through subsequent owners for up to eight years from first registration, regardless of whether the vehicle is registered to a fleet, leased, or privately purchased.
The company has not published servicing intervals, mileage caps, or exclusions for the programme. Those details will matter for fleet buyers evaluating total cost of ownership against established rivals.
Retail, aftersales, and pre-order process
Pre-orders run through a UK-based concierge contact centre operating Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Jameel Motors flagship AION showroom in Slough opens in late May, alongside the first wave of a franchised network AION says will expand nationwide.
Until that network matures, aftersales will run through a partnership with the AA, giving customers access to accredited workshops and more than 100 mobile service technicians. A separate arrangement with DHL handles next-day parts delivery from AION’s Bury St Edmunds hub.

The UK launch follows the GAC–Jameel Motors joint venture announcement in 2025 and the company’s recent move to begin European AION V production with Magna in Austria.
