Audi’s A3 allstreet is now available as a plug-in hybrid, combining an off-road look with a raised trim and increased ground clearance. The A3 allstreet 40 TFSI e offers a purely electric range of nearly 140 kilometers, a system output of 150 kW (204 PS), and fast DC charging capabilities up to 50 kW. Designed for efficiency and local emission-free driving, this crossover is perfect for daily use while still offering the versatility expected from an off-road vehicle.
Key Highlights:
- System output: 150 kW (204 PS) with both petrol and electric motors
- Electric range: Almost 140 kilometers in the WLTP cycle
- Charging capabilities: DC charging up to 50 kW and AC charging up to 11 kW
- Ground clearance: 30 millimeters higher than the A3 Sportback for off-road capabilities
- Order availability: Starting from mid-November, priced at 46,000 euros
The A3 allstreet plug-in hybrid comes after the release of the A3 Sportback TFSI e1, providing both a 1.5-liter TFSI evo2 turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor. Together, these components generate 150 kW (204 PS) and 350 Nm of system torque, delivering energetic performance and a top speed of 225 km/h. In pure electric mode, the vehicle can reach speeds up to 140 km/h.
The high-voltage battery offers a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, contributing to the nearly 140-kilometer electric range. Designed with 96 prismatic cells, the battery allows for a charge capacity of 73 ampere hours per cell, giving it a long lifespan and high efficiency.
Intelligent Drive Management
The A3 allstreet features intelligent drive management aimed at optimizing efficiency. With an EV button, drivers can prioritize electric driving, simulating a fully electric experience. The “Auto Hybrid” mode balances the use of both the combustion engine and electric motor, optimizing energy use based on driving conditions. At low speeds, the electric motor is prioritized, while the petrol engine takes over at higher speeds. The system also uses a combination of both power sources to boost performance when needed.
In different driving scenarios, the A3 allstreet TFSI e1 can coast, recuperate energy during braking, or combine both power sources for boosted performance. Steering wheel paddles help control coasting recuperation, allowing the driver to tailor energy-saving measures to the driving environment. The Audi virtual cockpit also provides detailed visualizations, including drive mode, battery status, and energy flows.
DC Fast Charging for Long-Distance Travel
The A3 allstreet TFSI e1 offers DC fast charging up to 50 kW, allowing for rapid energy replenishment. With DC charging, the battery can go from 10 percent to 80 percent in under 30 minutes, making long-distance electric travel both efficient and convenient. AC charging is also available up to 11 kW for home or public charging stations, taking around 2.5 hours for a full charge.
Audi also provides a charging service named Audi charging, offering access to 630,000 charging points in 29 European countries. This includes Audi’s own charging hubs in cities like Berlin, Munich, and Zurich.
Balanced Ride Quality and Dynamic Performance
With its increased ground clearance of 30 millimeters over the A3 Sportback, the A3 allstreet combines ride comfort with off-road capabilities. The spring/damper setup is adjusted for the hybrid’s rear-heavy axle distribution, providing a balanced ride quality that blends comfort and agility. Optional progressive steering further enhances the vehicle’s dynamic driving characteristics.
Availability and Pricing
The A3 allstreet 40 TFSI e1 will be available for order starting in mid-November, with a starting price of 46,000 euros. Standard features include the Audi drive select system, which allows the driver to customize handling dynamics, and auxiliary air conditioning for added comfort. The auxiliary air conditioning can be pre-set for cooling in summer or heating in winter, controllable via the MMI touch display.
