The 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron has just achieved a major milestone in automotive safety, earning the prestigious IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award. This accolade is the highest recognition from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, highlighting the vehicle’s exceptional performance in rigorous crash tests and safety evaluations.
Key Highlights:
- Earned the 2025 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award
- Met stringent new criteria for rear-passenger safety
- Excelled in the updated moderate-overlap front crash test
- Performed well in small overlap front, side, and pedestrian crash prevention tests
- Equipped with a comprehensive suite of standard and available safety features
The IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award is reserved for vehicles that demonstrate top-tier safety across multiple crash test scenarios. For 2025, the IIHS introduced tougher standards, focusing particularly on protecting second-row occupants during frontal collisions. The Audi Q6 e-tron surpassed these requirements, securing the highest “good” rating in all necessary tests.
A standout achievement came in the moderate-overlap front collision test. This test mimics a head-on crash at 40 mph, where 40% of the vehicle’s front width overlaps with another of equal size and weight. Now updated to include a dummy representing smaller rear-seat passengers, it measures injuries common to those in the back. The Q6 e-tron earned a top rating here, showcasing its advanced safety design.
Beyond this, the Q6 e-tron scored “good” in the small overlap front and updated side tests. It also achieved an “acceptable” or “good” rating in the pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation, which tests detection and avoidance capabilities day and night. All trims feature headlights rated “acceptable” or “good,” fulfilling another award criterion.
The vehicle boasts numerous safety features. Standard systems include Audi proactive passenger protection, which prepares for impacts by closing windows and tightening seatbelts, and Active front assist, combining emergency braking and cross-traffic alerts. Available features like adaptive cruise control with lane guidance and a 360-degree top view camera system further enhance safety.
With its stellar IIHS performance and robust safety technologies, the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron stands out as a top choice for safety-conscious buyers. This award highlights Audi’s dedication to passenger protection, cementing the Q6 e-tron’s place as a leader in the electric SUV market.
