Beachman Launches ’64 Street Spec Electric Café Racer

Beachman unveils the '64 Street Spec, an electric café racer starting at $5,750. The modular platform offers e-bike, moped, and motorcycle trims with ranges up to 70 miles.

Beachman has introduced the ‘64 Street Spec, a new electric vehicle model designed with a 1960s café racer aesthetic. This model joins the Canadian manufacturer’s lineup as an urban-focused alternative to the previously released Scrambler Spec. The vehicle is available in multiple trim levels to comply with varying regulatory classifications.

Technical Specifications and Powertrain

The ’64 Street Spec is engineered with a removable 2.8 kWh (40 Ah) lithium battery as the standard power source. This configuration provides approximately 55 miles of range per charge. An optional upgrade to a 3.6 kWh (50 Ah) pack extends the vehicle’s range to 70 miles.

Both battery options utilize regenerative braking systems and include built-in charge ports. Charging capabilities allow the battery to reach 80% capacity in three hours using standard equipment. An optional fast-charge upgrade reduces this interval to 90 minutes.

Drive Modes and Top Speed

Beachman incorporates distinct ride modes to accommodate different regulatory environments and use cases. The available performance profiles include:

  • E-Bike Mode: Limits the top speed to 20 mph, suitable for bike lanes.
  • Moped Mode: Increases the speed cap to 30 mph for general commuting.
  • Off-Road Mode: Allows the vehicle to reach 45 mph.
  • Light Motorcycle Spec: A specific trim level that offers a top speed of 50 mph.

Design and Manufacturing

The vehicle’s design references 1960s café racer culture, distinct from the off-road aesthetic of the brand’s Scrambler model. Key aesthetic elements include a bubble-shaped windscreen fairing and street-specific tires. The interface is designed for simplicity, avoiding complex software integration.

Beachman holds Canadian Federal and international SAE manufacturing licenses as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). This certification allows the company to produce the vehicle in multiple regulatory classes, including e-bike, moped, and motorcycle trims.

Pricing and Availability

The ’64 Street Spec holds a starting price of $5,750. Customers may select optional customization packages to modify the vehicle’s appearance.

  • Interior Upgrades: Hand-stitched leather seats and hand-applied striping are available for $550.
  • Paint Options: Bespoke paint matching is offered for $1,000.
