Beam Global has unveiled its latest innovation, the BeamBike™ solar-powered electric bike charging station, designed to charge up to 12 ebikes simultaneously. The off-grid, transportable charging platform is ideal for providing safe, secure outdoor charging in areas without reliable utility connections, enhancing energy resilience and safety. The BeamBike™ is a response to the rising adoption of ebikes and the need for safe charging solutions that avoid indoor battery fire risks.

The BeamBike™ charging system uses solar panels to generate and store its own electricity, making it independent of the grid and suitable for deployment during grid outages or in areas lacking easy utility access. The system’s onboard battery storage ensures that ebikes can be charged reliably, even during power failures, making it a valuable asset for emergency preparedness and energy resilience.
According to Beam Global, demand for such solutions has been fueled by increasing ebike adoption across major markets, including Asia, the Americas, and Europe. CEO Desmond Wheatley noted that customer requests, as well as concerns over indoor battery fires, inspired the development of the BeamBike. “Repeated requests from some of our best customers, and the rare but high-profile tragedies of indoor fires caused by ebikes, inspired us to develop an outdoor ebike charging solution that can be deployed quickly, relocated when needed, and operated independently of the grid,” said Wheatley.
The BeamBike™ is based on Beam Global’s proven EV ARC™ platform, leveraging the company’s existing engineering successes and patent portfolio to bring the product to market quickly. The charging station is suited for a variety of public and private settings, including transit centers, campuses, parks, and shopping malls, providing a safe, cost-effective charging solution for ebike users.
The electric bike market is projected to grow significantly, from US$ 50.1 billion in 2024 to US$ 148.7 billion by 2032, with an expected CAGR of 14.6%. This growth is driven by technological advances, increased recreational cycling, and a rising preference for ebikes as an affordable and environmentally friendly mode of transportation.
