Brite EV Charging, an infrastructure provider based in Galway, has partnered with GreenFlux, a European EV-charging-management software leader. The collaboration aims to deploy smart, reliable, and scalable charging solutions across Ireland.
The initiative supports Ireland’s 2030 Climate Action Plan. It targets the decarbonization of private transport as well as commercial logistics and tourism fleets.
Highlights
- Brite EV Charging and GreenFlux have partnered to expand Ireland’s smart charging infrastructure, starting with flagship sites in Galway.
- The “Brite Ultra Hub” at Sandy Road is one of Ireland’s most powerful sites, with 1 MVA capacity and 18 charge bays, including $300$ kW and $240$ kW DC chargers.
- GreenFlux is providing its EV charging software platform (CPMS) to enable intelligent load-balancing, high uptime, and optimize existing grid capacity.
Partnership Scope and Objectives
The collaboration combines GreenFlux’s advanced charge point management technology with Brite’s local expertise and investment in high-power charging hubs.
A primary objective is to maximize the efficiency of existing grid infrastructure. This approach utilizes intelligent, data-driven management rather than duplicating grid-intensive installations.
By optimizing current network resources, the partners aim to reduce unnecessary grid expansion. This strategy aligns with Galway City’s smart-mobility objectives and the national 2030 Climate Action Plan.
Flagship Charging Hub Deployment
Brite has established key charging sites in Galway, leveraging early investment in high-capacity grid infrastructure.
Brite Ultra Hub (Sandy Road)
The Sandy Road flagship site is one of Ireland’s most powerful public-charging locations. It operates 24/7 with active security and app-based payment systems.
The hub has a 1 MVA total installed capacity. It supports simultaneous charging for up to 18 vehicles.
Charger specifications include:
- Ultra-Rapid DC: $6\times300$ kW units
- High-Power DC: $4\times240$ kW units
- AC: $8\times22$ kW units
Galway Retail Park Hub
A second, complementary four-bay DC charging site is operational at Galway Retail Park. This location provides high-power charging for shoppers, commuters, and logistics users in a major commercial area.
Technology Integration
GreenFlux’s charge point management system (CPMS) is central to the partnership. It enables Brite to scale its ultra-rapid network using intelligent load-balancing to ensure high uptime.
Drivers will use the Charge Assist app. The app provides live charger availability, remote session control, and secure payment options.
Suthalan Gnanes, Managing Director at GreenFlux, noted the company will provide its software and managed roaming services to support Brite’s rollout.
Colin Barry, Managing Director at Brite, emphasized combining local ownership with proven European technology to deliver a dependable network.
