DFDS Expands Fleet with 100 Volvo Electric Trucks

DFDS, a leading shipping and logistics entity in Northern Europe, is addressing the escalating demand for environmentally friendly transport solutions. The company’s recurrent choice of Volvo for its electric fleet expansion underscores its commitment to reducing the ecological footprint of its operations. The incorporation of 100 more electric trucks from Volvo not only doubles DFDS’s electric capabilities but also fortifies its position as a pioneer in sustainable logistics.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed pride in the ongoing partnership with DFDS, emphasizing the significance of their decision to enhance their electric truck fleet as a testament to zero-emission transportation’s current feasibility and reliability.

The electric trucks, which include the updated and more energy-efficient Volvo FH Electric and FM Electric models, will be utilized across nine European markets. This expansion is a crucial step towards DFDS’s goal of electrifying at least 25 percent of its truck fleet by 2030.

Niklas Anderson, Executive Vice President, Logistic Division at DFDS, highlighted the broader implication of their fleet expansion, aiming to catalyze the transition towards more sustainable road transport and support companies in decarbonizing their supply chains. The move not only advances DFDS’s sustainability goals but also sets a benchmark in the logistics industry for environmental responsibility.

Volvo Trucks has been at the forefront of the electric truck market since 2019, selling vehicles in 45 countries across six continents. With a diverse range of eight electric models, Volvo is catering to a wide array of transport needs, further exemplifying the automotive industry’s shift towards sustainable solutions.
