Electrify America has completed a 1,765-mile demonstration journey along the East Coast to showcase network reliability and charging accessibility. The trip covered 14 states over six days, utilizing 15 charging stations between Portland, Maine, and Key West, Florida.
Highlights
- Rachel Moses, Electrify America’s senior director of sales and marketing, completed a 1,765-mile coastal route using only the company’s charging network across 14 states
- The six-day demonstration included stops at 15 charging stations and featured two electric vehicles: a 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz and 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E
- Electrify America operates over 1,000 stations with more than 5,000 chargers across 47 states and the District of Columbia ahead of peak holiday travel season
Network Demonstration Details
Moses undertook the journey in response to a Reddit user challenge to complete a long-distance trip using exclusively Electrify America infrastructure. The route followed the popular seasonal “snowbird” corridor from northern to southern coastal states.
The demonstration documented charging operations at 15 stations, including the network’s first installation from 2018 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Moses also visited a New York location where Electrify America collaborates with the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to expand the NY EVolve charging network.
The trip utilized both the Electrify America mobile app and Plug&Charge technology for charging session initiation across different station locations.
Vehicle Selection and Route Planning
Moses operated two vehicles during the demonstration:
- 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz: Portland, Maine, to Reston, Virginia
- 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E: Reston, Virginia, to Key West, Florida
The vehicle transition occurred at Electrify America’s Center of Excellence in Reston. The journey documented procedures for preparing for a holiday road trip with electric vehicles.
Infrastructure Scale and Holiday Readiness
Robert Barrosa, president and CEO of Electrify America, stated the demonstration validates the network’s operational capabilities during peak travel periods. AAA projects approximately 82 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles by car during the Thanksgiving holiday.
The company maintains a network exceeding 1,000 stations with over 5,000 chargers across North America. Electrify America is allocating more than $2 billion toward Zero-Emission Vehicle infrastructure development.
Current network coverage spans 47 states and the District of Columbia. Electrify Commercial provides charging solutions for fleet and commercial applications.
