AUMOVIO Unveils VDO Charging Solutions for Electric Fleets

AUMOVIO is expanding into depot charging with new VDO-branded AC and DC charging stations, linking hardware, vehicle components, and the VDO Fleet Ecosystem for electric truck and bus operators at IAA Transportation.

AUMOVIO is adding AC and DC charging stations under its VDO brand, extending its electric commercial vehicle offering from onboard components to depot charging infrastructure and fleet management software. The company says the new VDO charging solutions will be shown for the first time at IAA Transportation as part of an end-to-end approach that connects vehicle components, charging hardware, and digital fleet management. Target customers include fleet operators, municipal companies, logistics service providers, bus operators, and commercial vehicle manufacturers.

What Do the New VDO Charging Solutions Cover?

The charging infrastructure portfolio is aimed at fleets that charge electric trucks, buses, and special vehicles at depots, fleet yards, and company sites. It includes AC and DC charging stations for a range of applications, from mobile charging solutions to high-power charging systems built for fleet operations. AUMOVIO says the hardware complements its existing lineup of vehicle components, software, and digital services.

The company frames the offering around operational planning rather than range alone. According to AUMOVIO, charging times, charging point availability, energy costs, vehicle availability, and integration with existing processes are equally decisive for operators.

Fleet operators are increasingly focused on optimizing their energy infrastructure, from photovoltaic systems and battery storage to intelligent charging strategies, the company says. VDO’s offer is positioned to go beyond charging hardware by bringing charging stations, vehicles, and fleet data together for planning, monitoring, and managing charging processes.

“Electrification in commercial vehicles is primarily a matter of cost-effectiveness, scalability, and feasibility in real-world operations. That is why we take a holistic approach to vehicle technology, charging infrastructure, and digital applications. OE Components for Vehicle-to-Charger Communication

On the vehicle side, AUMOVIO already supplies manufacturers of electric commercial vehicles with a production-proven portfolio of components, software, and engineering services. The company lists:

  • Software for electronic control units and vehicle integration

AUMOVIO says these technologies support standards-compliant charging, enable both AC and DC charging processes, and facilitate integration into electric trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles. The company supports OEMs from system architecture and software development through integration, validation, and production.

How Does the VDO Fleet Ecosystem Use Charging Data?

The VDO Fleet Ecosystem is the digital layer connecting charging infrastructure, vehicles, and applications. Together with partner solutions, it integrates data from vehicles, charging infrastructure, and other digital tools so fleet operators can see charging status, energy consumption, vehicle availability, and active charging sessions in one place.

According to AUMOVIO, this lets operators identify which vehicles are ready for use, which need charging, and how charging activities fit into daily planning, with the aim of reducing vehicle downtime. Operational readiness of depot charging stations can also be surfaced by integrating suitable partner solutions into the ecosystem. Operators running high-power charging hubs for heavy-duty fleets face the same coordination challenge across chargers, vehicles, and schedules.

With charging infrastructure added, AUMOVIO says it now covers the main building blocks of commercial vehicle electrification: the vehicle, the charging point, and the digital management of daily operations.
