Emobi has announced a partnership with Flipturn to integrate roaming and authentication capabilities into Flipturn’s managed charging ecosystem. The collaboration enables site owners operating chargers at multifamily properties, fleet depots, and workplaces to connect their infrastructure to Emobi’s roaming hub, allowing drivers to access chargers through participating automaker platforms, fleet management tools, and consumer charging apps.
Highlights
- Flipturn-managed chargers will join Emobi’s roaming network, enabling drivers to authenticate and pay for sessions across connected platforms.
- Site owners retain full control of their charging assets while gaining access to broader driver networks and monetization opportunities.
- The partnership establishes a pathway for Flipturn sites to adopt Emobi’s JustPlug Plug & Charge technology without hardware upgrades.
- Customer-managed charging locations can now offer the same seamless experience as public charging networks.
Integration Details
Flipturn’s platform provides businesses and property owners with power management, uptime monitoring, payments, billing, and real-time diagnostics for their charging infrastructure. The Emobi integration adds roaming connectivity to this operational foundation.
In the initial phase, Flipturn-managed chargers will be discoverable through Emobi’s network. Drivers can authenticate, initiate sessions, and process payments using the same methods available across Emobi-connected public networks.
The integration aims to increase charger utilization at customer-managed sites while reducing the complexity of managing multi-app access.
Path to Plug & Charge
The collaboration positions Flipturn sites to become eligible for Emobi’s JustPlug technology. JustPlug is a cloud-based Plug & Charge platform using ISO 15118 authentication that works with both modern and legacy charging infrastructure.
Once enabled, supported vehicles can plug in and begin charging automatically without requiring on-site hardware upgrades or firmware updates.
Executive Perspectives
Lin Sun Fa, CEO of Emobi, noted that customer-managed charging sites represent one of the fastest-growing segments in the EV ecosystem. He stated these locations have historically been isolated from roaming and Plug & Charge innovations.
Alex Guidry, Head of Partnerships at Flipturn, said the integration extends value beyond individual sites while allowing customers to maintain their existing operational tools.
