EnergyHub and Wallbox have partnered to enhance utility programs for electric vehicle (EV) managed charging in North America. This collaboration aims to make utility programs more accessible to Wallbox customers, helping to scale these programs and deliver financial and environmental benefits to EV drivers.

Key Highlights:

  • Partnership to enhance utility programs: EnergyHub and Wallbox are working together to integrate Wallbox EV chargers with EnergyHub’s platform.
  • Increase in eligible devices: The integration expands the number of devices eligible for utility active and passive managed charging programs.
  • Growing demand for residential charging: With more EVs on the road, there is a rising demand for residential charging solutions, as 80% of all EV charging occurs at home.
  • Benefits for utilities and customers: Managed charging programs help utilities manage EV charging loads, protect distribution assets, and address load growth while providing financial incentives to customers.
  • Utility program enrollment: Wallbox devices are expected to be enrolled in utility programs starting in August.
  • Cost reduction for customers: Utility rebates and program participation incentives can significantly reduce the upfront and ongoing costs of EV charger ownership.

“Our partnership with Wallbox is an important milestone in our commitment to provide utilities with access to the industry’s largest ecosystem of device partners,” said Matt Johnson, VP of Business Development at EnergyHub. “The integration will deliver immediate benefits to our utility clients and their customers who want to use Wallbox chargers in managed charging programs and help pave the way for a more reliable, increasingly decarbonized energy system.”

“We are excited to announce our partnership with EnergyHub to allow customers in the U.S. to take full advantage of our Level 2 home charger’s smart capabilities,” said Fred Turner, Senior Director of Wallbox NA. “We know that the majority of EV charging happens in the home, so integrations that deliver financial and environmental benefits to both customers and utilities are key to the transition.”

EnergyHub, an independent subsidiary of Alarm.com (NASDAQ: ALRM), is a leading provider of grid-edge flexibility, managing over 1.9 GW of flexible capacity for more than 70 utilities in North America. Wallbox, a global leader in EV charging and energy management, offers a complete portfolio of solutions for residential, semi-public, and public use in over 115 countries. The partnership between these two companies aims to empower utilities and their customers to create a cleaner, more distributed energy future.
