EV Realty Opens 76-Port Truck Charging Hub in San Bernardino

EV Realty opened a 76-port, 9 MW truck charging hub in San Bernardino serving multiple fleets including J.B. Hunt, with both CCS and MCS connectors.

EV Realty has opened a multi-fleet truck charging hub in San Bernardino, California, with 76 high-power charging ports and 9 MW of capacity. The facility can serve more than 200 medium- and heavy-duty trucks per day using both CCS and MCS connectors.

Highlights

  • 76 charging ports with 9 MW total capacity, supporting up to 1.2 MW per port (MCS) and 500 kW (CCS)
  • Announced fleet customers include J.B. Hunt Transport, Gate City Beverage (Reyes Holdings), and electric carrier Nevoya
  • Strategic location near the San Bernardino Intermodal Facility and Interstates 10 and 215, within reach of nearly 17,000 registered medium- and heavy-duty trucks
  • Construction supported by grants from the South Coast AQMD Carl Moyer Program and the California Energy Commission’s EnergIIZE Commercial Vehicles Project

Multi-Fleet Shared Infrastructure Model

The site operates under EV Realty’s Powered Properties model, which aggregates multiple fleets onto shared private infrastructure. The company says the approach delivers lower per-fleet costs compared to single-tenant depot charging.

Charging hardware comes from Kempower, with spring-assisted cables designed for heavy-duty use. Fleet management software from Synop handles power management, reservations, reporting, and efficiency analytics. The facility includes 24/7 on-site staff, security, parking, and driver amenities.

Fleet Customer Perspectives

“The Inland Empire is where freight from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach gets sorted and sent across the country by truck and rail,” said EV Realty CEO Patrick Sullivan. “Fleets operating here are doing some of the most important and demanding work in the supply chain. They need reliable and affordable access to high-power charging so that they can move beyond pilots and make electrification a real business decision. That’s exactly what we’ve built here.”

Nevoya Chief Commercial Officer John Verdon called EV Realty “a great partner,” adding that the site “provides valuable operational flexibility with both megawatt charging and vehicle domicile options that work well for our needs.”

Location and Logistics Context

The San Bernardino site sits near one of the country’s densest freight corridors. The surrounding area includes more than 60 million square feet of industrial warehouse space. Proximity to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach positions the hub along a primary goods movement route for Southern California.

Construction Timeline and Funding

The facility broke ground in mid-2025, with EV Realty citing available grid power from Southern California Edison and project partner ParWest as factors that compressed the construction schedule. Grant funding came from the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Carl Moyer Program and the California Energy Commission’s EnergIIZE program.

Growth and Investment

The opening follows a period of expansion for EV Realty that includes $75 million in growth equity from NGP, additional investment from truck terminal operator Outpost, and acquisition of assets intended to support further scaling.
