EVgo and Delta Electronics have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly develop next-generation EV charging architecture. This collaboration aims to enhance the customer experience, improve charger reliability, and drive cost efficiencies through advanced hardware and firmware design. EVgo will leverage its expertise in charging solutions, working with Delta to improve the reliability, efficiency, and energy conservation of their charging infrastructure.

Key Highlights:

  • Joint development of next-generation charging architecture between EVgo and Delta Electronics.
  • Focus on enhancing customer experience and improving charger reliability.
  • Integration of ultra high-power 400kW dispensers with extended cable lengths for ease of use.
  • Dynamic power sharing across multiple charging stalls to increase efficiency.
  • Targeted deployment of new chargers by the second half of 2026.

EVgo and Delta’s expanded partnership will focus on creating state-of-the-art fast chargers that prioritize customer convenience and ease of use. Design improvements include advanced software, all-in-one power electronics, contactless payment interfaces, and extended cable lengths, ensuring the chargers can easily reach any vehicle’s charging port. These features will help EVgo better serve the diverse needs of all electric vehicle drivers.

The new charging architecture will integrate dynamic power sharing across up to six charging stalls, improving power distribution and maximizing energy efficiency. This advanced technology will enable more flexible station configurations, which will be especially critical as EVgo continues expanding to accommodate the growing number of EV drivers.

Deployment of the new chargers is expected to begin by the second half of 2026. In addition, EVgo will enhance charger firmware and software to include detailed error codes and more flexible interfaces, aimed at improving maintenance efficiency, reducing downtime, and ultimately elevating the customer experience.

The co-development of next-generation chargers is part of EVgo’s larger ReNew™ program, aimed at delivering a holistically improved customer experience. Through ReNew, EVgo has launched new diagnostic tools, streamlined payment processes with Autocharge+, and addressed legacy equipment improvements. EVgo is committed to supporting the broader adoption of electric vehicles by making fast charging more accessible, reliable, and efficient.
