Faraday Future, a California-based electric mobility company, has made a significant stride in electric vehicle innovation. Through its subsidiary, Future AIHER, the company has filed three patent applications focused on AI-powered hybrid extended-range systems. These patents aim to boost the efficiency and performance of electric vehicles, especially in cold weather conditions where traditional systems often struggle.

Key Highlights

  • Faraday Future submits three patents via Future AIHER
  • Focus on AI-driven hybrid extended-range systems
  • Designed to enhance efficiency in cold climates
  • Future AIHER to develop advanced range extender solutions
  • Potential uses in air, ground, and ocean mobility

Hybrid extended-range systems blend electric and combustion technologies, using the electric motor as the main power source and the combustion engine as a backup to extend range. This setup is especially valuable in cold weather, where battery efficiency can drop. Faraday Future’s patents could make these systems smarter and more reliable by optimizing energy use and simplifying design.

The first patent introduces deep reinforcement learning, a form of AI that allows the vehicle to adapt energy management based on the driver’s habits and route conditions. This personalized approach could lead to real-time improvements in efficiency. The other two patents focus on simplifying the system’s structure by separating the engine, generator, and wheels, making the design more modular and easier to maintain while boosting performance.

Future AIHER plans to initially use third-party technology in its upcoming FX vehicles for a quicker market launch. Long-term, it aims to create its own AI-driven systems, potentially expanding into other sectors like electric aircraft and boating. Co-CEO YT Jia highlighted this as a key part of Faraday Future’s vision for intelligent mobility, with applications beyond just cars.

These innovations position Faraday Future as a leader in AI-enhanced electric mobility, aiming to redefine vehicle performance and efficiency.
