Filosa Named New Stellantis CEO

Stellantis N.V. has announced the selection of Antonio Filosa as its new Chief Executive Officer. The company’s Board of Directors unanimously chose Filosa, a distinguished veteran with over 25 years in the automotive sector, following a comprehensive search process involving both internal and external candidates. This process was overseen by a Special Committee of the Board, led by Executive Chairman John Elkann.

Key Highlights:

  • Antonio Filosa appointed new Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis N.V.
  • Filosa will assume CEO powers effective June 23.
  • He brings more than 25 years of hands-on automotive industry experience.
  • Filosa currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Americas and Chief Quality Officer.
  • An Extraordinary Shareholder Meeting will be convened for Filosa to be elected to the Board as an executive director.
  • John Elkann will maintain his position as Executive Chairman.

To ensure a seamless transition and grant him full authority, the Board has conferred CEO powers upon Filosa effective June 23. Concurrently, Stellantis will soon call an Extraordinary Shareholder Meeting to formally elect Antonio Filosa to the Board as an executive director.

The Board’s decision to appoint Filosa was based on his proven track record of success, extensive global experience, deep understanding of Stellantis, and recognized leadership capabilities. Filosa has demonstrated strong leadership in both North and South America for the company. During his tenure as Chief Operating Officer of South America, he was instrumental in elevating the FIAT brand to a market-leading position and significantly expanding the presence of the Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep® brands, thereby solidifying Stellantis’s leadership in the region. His contributions include the development of the Pernambuco plant, a major automotive hub in South America, which successfully launched Jeep® in Brazil, quickly establishing it as the brand’s foremost market outside the United States.

As CEO of Jeep®, Filosa expanded the brand’s global footprint, notably in Europe, where models like the Jeep Avenger continue to be top sellers. He was subsequently promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Americas, in December 2024. In this role, he has initiated measures to strengthen U.S. operations, including reducing dealer inventory, reorganizing the leadership team, advancing new product and powertrain introductions, and enhancing dialogue with dealers, unions, and suppliers.

John Elkann will continue as Executive Chairman when Filosa assumes his CEO duties. Filosa is also expected to announce Stellantis’s new leadership team at that time. “Antonio’s deep understanding of our Company…and of our industry equip him perfectly for the role of Chief Executive Officer,” stated Elkann.

Endorsements also came from Stellantis Vice Chairman Robert Peugeot, who called Filosa “the natural choice,” and Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of Bpifrance, who noted that Filosa “has the knowledge, the experience, and the talent to lead Stellantis to new successes.”

“It is my great honor to be named the CEO of this fantastic Company,” said Antonio Filosa. “We have the world’s best and most iconic brands…That legacy, combined with our relentless dedication to giving our customers the products and services they love, will continue to be key to our success.”

Stellantis N.V. is a leading global automaker committed to providing freedom of movement through innovative technologies and a diverse portfolio of iconic brands, including Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, FIAT, Jeep®, Maserati, Ram, and Peugeot.
