Genesis has clinched two prestigious awards at the 2024 Canadian Car of the Year event, underscoring its dominance in the electric vehicle segment. The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) honored the Genesis Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70 as the 2024 Canadian Electric Car of the Year and 2024 Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year, respectively.
Since its debut in Canada in 2016, Genesis has been rapidly growing, thanks to its focus on a human-centred approach and meticulous attention to detail. These qualities have made Genesis vehicles a favorite among judges and consumers, propelling the brand to the forefront of the Canadian automotive market.

The Electrified G80 sets a new standard for electric luxury sedans with its sophisticated design, outstanding performance, and efficiency. Meanwhile, the Electrified GV70, introduced in the 2023 model year as the third electric vehicle in Genesis’s lineup, combines iconic styling with high-performance, innovative technology, and a commitment to electric mobility.

AJAC’s selection process for the Canadian Car of the Year awards involves extensive real-world evaluations by 48 voting members across Canada, who assess vehicles on performance, technology, design, and value. The process culminates in over 600 anonymous votes, with results verified by KPMG and announced at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

The Electrified G80, Genesis’s first fully electric model, represents a harmonious blend of elegance and eco-friendly performance with dual electric motors delivering 365 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The Electrified GV70 mirrors this commitment to sustainable luxury, offering potent dual 160 kW electric motors for a silent, yet powerful drive, enhanced by a Boost button for an exhilarating 489 hp.
