Valeo Opens India e-Axle Line for Mahindra

Valeo inaugurated a new Pune manufacturing line producing integrated 3-in-1 e-Axles for Mahindra's Born Electric platform, deepening localization under its Elevate 2028 strategy.

Valeo has inaugurated a new electric powertrain manufacturing line at its Pune, India facility. The line will produce 3-in-1 e-Axle systems for Mahindra’s upcoming Born Electric vehicle platform. The inauguration took place March 28, with executives from both companies present.

Mahindra Partnership Anchors the Line

Valeo developed and will manufacture the 3-in-1 e-Axle locally in India. The integrated unit combines the electric motor, inverter, and reducer into a compact package. It uses Valeo’s latest motor technology and will equip new models on Mahindra’s Born Electric platform.

Manufacturing Capabilities

The facility, located at Valeo’s Lonikand plant in Pune, includes four automated production lines: U-Pin/hairpin winding stator assembly, reducer assembly, inverter manufacturing, and final e-Axle assembly. The lines incorporate precision assembly processes and quality control systems with full digitalization and end-to-end traceability.

Valeo’s India Footprint

Valeo has operated in India since 1997. The company runs six production sites across Chennai, Pune, Sanand, and Gurgaon, along with R&D centers in Chennai and Bangalore. The supplier employs more than 7,500 people in India, with over half working as engineers on global R&D and manufacturing programs.
