Evolution of GreenFlux’s Roaming Network
Founded in 2011, GreenFlux initially focused on building an EV roaming network before evolving into a comprehensive charge point management software (CPMS) provider. Despite this shift, the company maintained and expanded its roaming as a service (RaaS) offerings. This strategic growth aligned with the booming EV market in Europe, where infrastructure demands have surged.
By early 2019, the network featured 100,000 charge points. It doubled to 500,000 by mid-2023 and reached 900,000 in January of this year. Now at 1 million, the network demonstrates GreenFlux’s commitment to seamless EV charging accessibility. The vast coverage extends from Ankara, Turkey, in the east to the Canary Islands, Spain, in the west—a distance of approximately 4,500 km. This expansive reach includes regions from Iceland and Finland in the north to Spain and Turkey in the south, with ongoing efforts to add more countries.
Benefits for EV Ecosystem Stakeholders
EV roaming serves as a critical accelerator for sustainable mobility. For drivers, it alleviates range anxiety and improves overall travel convenience. CPOs benefit from higher charge point utilization rates, leading to better operational efficiency. Meanwhile, eMSPs can broaden their offerings, attracting more users through enhanced network access.
Suthalan Gnanes, managing director at GreenFlux, highlighted the achievement as a testament to the team’s dedication and partnerships. The company boasts one of the largest EV roaming teams and networks in Europe, fostering innovation in the sector.
