Technical Preparations for Formula E Season 12
Global tire manufacturer Hankook Tire is set to showcase its advanced technology during the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Season 12 pre-season testing. This critical session will take place from October 27 to 31 in Valencia, Spain.
This marks the fourth and final season in which Hankook serves as the series’ exclusive tire supplier and official technology partner. The company will equip all teams with the championship-proven GEN3 Evo iON Race tire.

The tire is engineered for:

Since its introduction in Season 9, the iON Race tire has maintained a flawless record, delivering proven performance and safety at the highest levels of electric motorsport.
The Valencia Testing Mandate
The Valencia Pre-Season Testing at Circuit Ricardo Tormo is a crucial technical period for all teams. It allows engineers and drivers to finalize vehicle setups and operational coordination ahead of the new season.
Key figures for the testing period include:
- Twenty drivers participating
- Ten teams running intensive sessions
- Focus on GEN3 Evo car dynamics and iON Race tire performance data
Driver feedback has consistently highlighted the tire’s performance capabilities. Following multiple victories in previous seasons, Maximilian Günther (DS PENSKE) commented on its capabilities:

Expanded Initiatives and Global Schedule
Formula E will utilize the Valencia testing to deliver an expanded Women’s Test. Up to 20 female drivers from all 10 teams will get increased track time to drive the current GEN3 Evo race car.
In conjunction with this, the FIA Girls on Track program, presented by Hankook, will host approximately 100 local young women, aged 12–18, for workshops and team interaction. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation of industry talent.
Since its debut in Season 9, Hankook has been integral to advancing Formula E’s technical standards across performance, sustainability, and safety. The Formula E Season 12 calendar expands to a 17-round global championship spanning 11 iconic cities, beginning with the São Paulo opener on December 6 and concluding with the London finale next August.
