Honda Enters Last-Mile Delivery Market

Honda has announced the establishment of Fastport, a new business-to-business company aimed at transforming the last-mile delivery sector with innovative micromobility solutions. The new venture, which originated from the Honda New Business Innovation Lab, will debut its first product, the zero-emission Fastport eQuad prototype, at the Eurobike trade show in Frankfurt, Germany.

Key Highlights

  • Honda has launched Fastport, a new company focused on providing B2B micromobility solutions for the last-mile delivery industry.
  • The first product is the Fastport eQuad, an all-electric quadricycle designed for use in urban bike lanes.
  • The vehicle is powered by swappable Honda Mobile Power Pack (MPP) batteries and will operate under a comprehensive Fleet-as-a-Service (FaaS) model.
  • The Fastport eQuad is scheduled for U.S. production at the Honda Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio, with initial deliveries expected in late 2025.

The Fastport eQuad Solution

Designed to tackle urban congestion and growing consumer demand for fast deliveries, the Fastport eQuad offers an efficient and sustainable alternative to traditional delivery vans. This all-electric quadricycle features a pedal-by-wire pedal-assist powertrain and is powered by easily swappable, rechargeable batteries, ensuring a quiet, zero-emission operation.

The vehicle incorporates energy-saving technologies like a regenerative braking system and automatic parking brakes for safety. Rider comfort is also a priority, with features including a protective canopy, a ventilation fan, and a full-frontal enclosure. Its robust chassis design ensures a stable ride, even on uneven city streets.

To meet diverse customer needs in North America and Europe, Fastport will offer modular designs with large and small vehicle sizes and customizable cargo containers suitable for various applications, such as parcel, grocery, and small package deliveries.

Advanced Fleet-as-a-Service (FaaS) Platform

Fastport will provide a comprehensive Fleet-as-a-Service (FaaS) solution that goes beyond the vehicle itself. The platform includes the eQuad vehicles, swappable batteries, service and maintenance plans, and AI-powered dashboards. These dashboards offer real-time insights to improve driver and fleet management operations.

With premium connectivity and over-the-air software updates, the platform ensures secure access to cloud-based services, allowing for continuous improvements throughout the vehicle’s lifespan. Fastport is already conducting pilot test programs with major logistics companies ahead of its production launch.

U.S. Production and Global Debut

The Fastport eQuad will be produced at the Honda Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Ohio, a specialty facility known for assembling the Acura NSX supercar and other small-volume vehicles. The expertise of the PMC technicians makes it an ideal location for manufacturing specialized micromobility vehicles.

Fastport will make its global debut at Eurobike 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany, from June 25-29. Attendees can visit the Fastport booth to learn more about this innovative logistics solution.
