Innovative Technologies for the Future of EVs

The “Thin and Light” approach by Honda focuses on offering new EV values like comfortable space and sporty driving experiences. Honda aims to achieve low vehicle height and high electricity efficiency, made possible through a new dedicated EV platform that uses ultra-high strength steel plates and a thin battery pack. The original low-floor technology also contributes to a low center of gravity and increased vehicle stability.

Honda’s new compact e-Axle and thin battery pack further enhance efficiency and contribute to a lighter vehicle. The battery capacity is optimized with technologies to limit degradation to less than 10% over ten years, improving long-term performance.

An active aerodynamic system is also being introduced to minimize air resistance and enhance stability, while new body rigidity management ensures improved driving stability and a reduction in weight of up to 220 pounds compared to initial Honda EVs.

Wise: Intelligent Technologies and Software-Defined Vehicles

Honda is advancing the concept of “Wise” with its development of original software-defined vehicles (SDVs). By building its own vehicle operating system (OS) and applying connected technologies, Honda aims to provide new mobility experiences that adapt over time with over-the-air (OTA) updates. These updates will continually enhance vehicle features and bring added value to Honda customers.

The Honda 0 Series will include Level 3 automated driving technologies, offering greater safety and convenience. By utilizing LiDAR-based sensing and high-definition camera technologies, along with AI integration for driver assistance, Honda aims to make driving both safer and more enjoyable.

Optimizing Driving Experience and Energy Management

While advancing automated driving capabilities, Honda is also developing technologies that ensure the joy of driving remains a key aspect of the EV experience. This includes integrated control of vehicle dynamics, utilizing a steer-by-wire system to offer a more responsive and smooth driving feel. Energy efficiency is prioritized with thermal management and an emphasis on providing a comfortable cabin space even during colder months.

Additionally, Honda is improving the digital user experience (UX) with simplified in-vehicle systems, enhanced voice assistant capabilities, and content to maximize in-vehicle entertainment and connectivity. Honda aims to turn its next-generation EVs into a space of enjoyment and personalized mobility experiences.

With the Honda 0 Series, Honda continues to pave the way for an electric future, emphasizing artistic design, advanced technology, and the joy of driving.
