Hyundai Motor Company presented the all-electric INSTER at the 2024 Busan International Mobility Show. This new A-segment sub-compact EV combines a futuristic design with a spacious interior. It features advanced technology, offering a blend of eco-friendly flexibility and agile driving dynamics. The INSTER is designed for urban environments, providing efficiency and ease of use.
The INSTER’s design builds on the legacy of the Korea-only CASPER, introduced in 2021. It features an extended body and wheelbase, offering more interior space and a robust road presence. Positioned between traditional A-segment city cars and larger B-segment models, the INSTER offers maneuverability and practicality. Its compact dimensions make it ideal for city driving and parking convenience.
Exterior highlights include a robust SUV profile, strong fenders, high-tech bumper, and a bold skid plate. The INSTER also features LED daytime running lights, pixel-graphic turn signals, and optional LED projection headlamps. Customers can choose from various wheel options and a two-tone exterior with a contrasting black roof.
Inside, the INSTER offers enhanced technology and convenience. It includes a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a wireless charging dock. The interior design features customizable trim garnishes and versatile seating. All seats can be folded flat for increased flexibility, and the front row offers walk-through access.
Sustainability is a key aspect of the INSTER’s design. The exterior uses recycled paint, while the interior incorporates recycled PET from bottles and bio-polypropylene from sugarcane. The INSTER also excels in charging capabilities. It comes with a 42 kWh battery as standard, with an optional Long-Range 49 kWh battery. Both versions offer fast charging and impressive driving ranges.
The INSTER is equipped with advanced safety and driver assistance features. It includes a range of ADAS features like Surround View Monitor, Blind-spot View Monitor, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. The model also offers Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, and various other safety systems.
The INSTER will initially launch in Korea this summer, followed by Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Most equipment will come standard, with optional features available. An additional variant, the INSTER CROSS, will join the lineup later, focusing on a rugged, outdoor design. Further details will be announced in the future.
