Hyundai UK Debuts Updated KONA Electric Range: Specs, Pricing and Features

What’s Happening

Hyundai Motor UK has unveiled the pricing and specifications for its second-generation KONA Electric range, solidifying its place in the B-SUV segment. With prices commencing from £34,995, the refreshed KONA Electric range includes four trims: Advance, N Line, N Line S, and Ultimate. The company presents two battery options of 48kW and 65kW, promising a maximum range of up to 319 miles.

Why It Matters

With the all-new KONA Electric range, Hyundai expands on one of the most diverse lineups in the B-SUV sector, including EV, hybrid electric (HEV), internal combustion engine (ICE) variants, and N Line versions of each. The new KONA is designed to support customers’ active lifestyles across generations, featuring advanced technologies and convenience features to ensure a secure, connected, and comfortable experience.

Key Points

The second-generation KONA Electric boasts more generous dimensions than its predecessor, enhancing both cabin and boot space. The car’s increased exterior and interior dimensions optimize comfort, while the enhanced luggage capacity ensures more storage. With the seats down, the luggage area offers up to 1,300 liters of space.

The new KONA Electric provides faster charging options with its DC fast charging capability of 102.3kW, compared to the previous generation’s 75kW maximum. Additionally, it features a standard navigation and infotainment system with full Over-the-Air (OTA) updates and compatibility with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. A suite of Hyundai’s SmartSense Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and safety features is also incorporated into all KONA models.

Bottom Line

The updated KONA Electric range delivers not only a considerable upgrade in size, style, and specification over the previous model but also significant value improvements. It maintains competitive PCP rates starting from £352 a month, with strong residual values across the range. Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai Motor UK, asserts that the new KONA Electric continues to uphold the KONA name’s solid foundations while pushing efficiency and equipment levels higher, thus offering more space, comfort, and futuristic EV-centric styling at a price point within reach.
