IONNA, the electric vehicle fast-charging joint venture backed by General Motors and seven other automakers, now operates 122 active locations across the United States with a combined 1,166 charging bays. Many of those sites are IONNA “Rechargery” locations that pair fast charging up to 400 kW with food and beverage options and clean restrooms for drivers and passengers. General Motors says the buildout comes alongside Energy Pass, a charging tool built into the automaker’s MyChevrolet, MyCadillac, and MyGMC apps that lets drivers find a station, start a session, and pay from one interface. The company is positioning the combination of network growth and app-based access as a way to simplify long-distance EV travel this summer.
Highlights
- IONNA operates 122 active charging locations in the U.S., totaling 1,166 charging bays with fast charging up to 400 kW.
- Energy Pass, built into the MyChevrolet, MyCadillac, and MyGMC apps, lets GM EV drivers find, start, and pay for public charging from one interface.
- GM EV drivers who charge at IONNA using Energy Pass get a 10 percent discount, applied automatically when Plug & Charge is set up in advance.
- Energy Pass currently covers the Tesla Supercharger, IONNA, and Electrify America networks — with ChargePoint and EVgo access coming soon — reaching nearly 70% of U.S. DC fast chargers.
How Does Energy Pass Work?
Energy Pass is built directly into the GM apps drivers already use for vehicle ownership — MyChevrolet, MyCadillac, and MyGMC. The feature gives drivers a single interface to locate a public charging station, start a session, and pay, removing the need to download a separate charging app, create another account, or enter payment information the first time they use an unfamiliar network.
Energy Pass also supports Plug & Charge, where a driver plugs in and charging begins automatically, with payment handled in the background rather than through an app or card reader. IONNA Rechargeries already offer this capability for GM EV drivers.
IONNA Discount and Charging Access
GM EV drivers who use Energy Pass to charge at an IONNA location receive a 10 percent discount on the cost of energy dispensed. The discount applies automatically once a driver sets up Plug & Charge in advance, and has been available since March 2, 2026. It excludes taxes and session-related fees, and does not apply to sessions started using a credit card reader or a third-party app.
Networks Covered by Energy Pass
At launch, Energy Pass connects GM EV drivers to the Tesla Supercharger, IONNA, and Electrify America networks, with ChargePoint and EVgo access coming soon. Together, the supported networks cover nearly 70% of all DC fast chargers in the United States, along with many Level 2 chargers, extending the public charging access General Motors has built for its EV drivers.
