IONNA’s first Rechargery represents a significant step forward in the company’s mission to redefine the EV charging experience. By transforming a historic gas station into a state-of-the-art charging hub, IONNA is not only providing much-needed charging infrastructure but also creating a welcoming and convenient space for EV drivers.
The Rechargery’s location in Apex, North Carolina, is a fitting tribute to the town’s history, which is rooted in the transportation industry. Originally built around a railroad steam engine refill pond, Apex has embraced its evolving role in transportation, and IONNA’s Rechargery marks a new chapter in this legacy.
“A symbolic first, IONNA’s initial Rechargery will be in the historic district of a quintessential American town built around a railroad steam engine refill pond, which the workers called Apex. A name that lives on to this day. In keeping with the town’s evolving transportation roots, and almost 100 years after one of Apex’s first gas stations opened to the community, IONNA will restore the building and its land to bring the ‘Apex of charging’ to the “Peak of Good Living”, the town’s present-day motto.”
The appointment of Jackie Slope as Chief Technology Officer further strengthens IONNA’s commitment to customer experience. With her extensive background in sports and entertainment, Slope brings a wealth of knowledge in creating engaging and seamless customer journeys.
“I am excited to join the IONNA family,” said Jackie Slope, CTO of IONNA. “Having spent my career raising the bar around the customer experience I am excited to find ways to innovate and elevate the charging experience by serving the customer above all else in this new and exciting industry.”
IONNA is a joint venture founded by eight leading automakers: BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Stellantis, and Toyota. The company is committed to building a nationwide network of 30,000 ultra-fast charging stations by 2030, providing EV drivers with the coverage, reliability, and amenities they need.
IONNA’s first Rechargery in Apex is a testament to the company’s vision for the future of EV charging. By combining advanced technology, convenient amenities, and a focus on customer experience, IONNA is setting a new standard for the industry.
