OMODA&JAECOO UK says its JAECOO 7 SHS-P plug-in hybrid covered 828 miles during a two-day economy test, exceeding the model’s official WLTP combined range of 745 miles by 11.14%. The sister OMODA 7 SHS-P recorded 770 miles at the same event, roughly 10% above its official figure of more than 700 miles. Both runs took place at UTAC Millbrook in Bedfordshire, England, with data gathered by challenge partner Webfleet. The company describes the JAECOO 7 SHS-P as the only plug-in hybrid SUV currently on sale in the UK capable of traveling more than 800 miles.

How Was the Range Test Conducted?
The economy run took place in late June across two days at UTAC Millbrook. The challenge ran on a closed course that the company says was designed to emulate real-world driving conditions, and OMODA&JAECOO has published video from the two-day run.
Two route types were used. The first was a two-mile, five-lane banked circular circuit, selected to represent divided highway and freeway conditions. The second was the facility’s hill route, chosen to replicate rural driving. Webfleet supplied supporting telematics data across the drive, which the company says demonstrated the hybrid system’s efficiency under changing conditions.
The drive was led by Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke, who according to OMODA&JAECOO both hold previous world records for fuel economy, electric vehicle energy consumption, and long-range test drives. Booker drove the OMODA 7 SHS-P and Clarke the JAECOO 7 SHS-P, each joined by additional efficiency-focused drivers.

WLTP is the European homologation cycle. Figures are not directly comparable to US EPA ratings, which use a different test procedure.
Fifth-Generation Super Hybrid System
Both vehicles use OMODA&JAECOO’s proprietary Super Hybrid System, now in its fifth generation. The company positions the architecture around energy management that balances electric driving against hybrid operation, adapting to conditions as the drive progresses.
Booker had previously driven the SHS-P powertrain in the OMODA 9 on a nine-country European run completed on one tank and one charge. He noted that the Millbrook challenge was conducted during a heatwave, citing highs of 41 degrees — Celsius, or roughly 106°F.
Kevin Booker, lead economy driver in the challenge, said: “Having driven the SHS-P system in the OMODA 9, where we travelled through nine countries on one tank and one charge, I knew the OMODA 7 and JAECOO 7 would have the potential to surpass their official WLTP figures. The challenge was proving it.”
He added: “This journey has shown that, with the right mindset and the right car, you really can achieve more while using less. I’m proud to have been part of a challenge that reflects what OMODA&JAECOO stands for: innovation, efficiency and the confidence to go further than expected. It was a fantastic team effort to showcase what these cars are truly capable of.”

UK Sales Momentum and Pricing
The company links the result to commercial traction for both nameplates. Citing SMMT registration data, OMODA&JAECOO says the JAECOO 7 has featured consistently among the UK’s ten best-selling vehicles since September 2025, with more than 46,000 units delivered to UK buyers since its January 2025 launch. The company reports particularly strong demand for the SHS-P powertrain across private and fleet channels.
The JAECOO 7 SHS-P starts at £35,170 on-the-road, while the OMODA 7 SHS-P starts at £32,005. Both carry a seven-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty and an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty, and both are sold through a 146-strong UK retailer network.
