1,000+ Ultra-Fast Charging Bays Coming in 2025
Kia America and its fellow IONNA partners are celebrating the nationwide expansion of the IONNA charging network, marking a major milestone for EV infrastructure in the U.S. This transition from public beta to full-scale deployment underscores a commitment from eight leading automakers—BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Stellantis, and Toyota—to build a reliable, high-speed charging network. The first-ever IONNA Rechargery in Apex, NC, and the opening of IONNA’s new headquarters and Customer Experience Lab in Durham, NC, set the stage for this ambitious rollout.
Key Highlights:
- IONNA successfully completed over 4,400 charging sessions across 80+ EV models during testing.
- More than 100 charging sites have already been contracted, with new Rechargeries opening in Houston, TX, and Abilene, KS, alongside seven more locations under construction.
- The nationwide expansion aims to bring over 1,000 ultra-fast (400 kW) charging bays online by 2025.
- A five-year plan will deliver 30,000 charging bays, creating new jobs and boosting American EV infrastructure.
- New AI-powered retail spaces will debut in Q1 2025, offering Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology for seamless, 24/7 shopping.
- Plug & Charge technology and deep vehicle integration will enhance user experience, reservations, and in-car payments.
Expanding the Future of EV Charging
The IONNA network is designed to provide fast, reliable, and widely available charging to support the growing EV market.
