XPENG has launched the G9L, a flagship SUV offered in battery-electric and range-extended versions, in China and plans to sell it in 64 global markets. XPENG held the China launch event in Beijing this week and set the model’s global launch for October 12, 2026, at the Paris Motor Show. Production is planned in Guangzhou, China, and at Magna’s plant in Graz, Austria, making the G9L the fourth XPENG model assembled in Europe.

G9L Powertrains and Dimensions
The G9L will be available as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV). The SUV measures 201.6 inches (5,120 mm) long with a 122.0-inch (3,100 mm) wheelbase, a wheelbase-to-length ratio of 0.605. XPENG claims that proportion delivers better interior space and handling agility than segment peers.
The company positions the G9L as a premium model carrying its latest driver-assistance and cockpit technology. According to XPENG, the vehicle runs the company’s VLA 2.0 model, which it says allows fast generalization across regions. The G9L also uses the same Turing AI chip as XPENG’s IRON humanoid robot.
Crash Testing and Global Validation
XPENG describes the G9L as a “global car,” developed to meet safety and quality standards across markets. The company says the SUV meets the design standards of four five-star safety rating programs. The reported test program includes:
- Crash tests: 192 tests across the Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP, and CIASI protocols, covering more than 110 individual test items
- Road testing: Three years of testing across 26 countries and regions
- Mileage: More than 4.19 million miles (6.74 million km) accumulated
Where Will the XPENG G9L Be Built?
Production will begin in both Guangzhou and Graz. The G9L becomes the fourth XPENG model built at Magna’s Austrian plant, after the G6, G9, and P7+. XPENG announced its cooperation agreement with Magna in September 2025 and says it has used the contract manufacturer’s existing lines to launch four locally assembled models within a year. The company notes that the G9L will share lines and a factory with European luxury vehicles.
Humanoid Robot Production Line
At the event, Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng also reported that XPENG has commissioned an automated production line for general-purpose humanoid robots, which the company calls the world’s first. He tied the robotics program to the vehicle business.
“We believe in ‘car as robot’, over the past few years, we have built an in-house AI foundation based on our work in AI cars and humanoid robots, and it powers both,” He said.
Paris Motor Show Launch
The G9L global launch event takes place October 12, 2026, at the Paris Motor Show, where XPENG’s booth is in Hall 6. The company did not disclose pricing, battery capacity, range, or delivery timing for markets outside China.
