Standard equipment includes Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-MODE Dual-Mode, Yokohama GEOLANDAR all-terrain tires, and enhanced underbody protection. Inside, the model carries StarTex upholstery, a 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster, a Harman Kardon speaker system, a Power Rear Gate, and a heated steering wheel.
According to Subaru, the Wilderness Hybrid returns better fuel economy than the gas-only Forester Wilderness without compromising all-wheel-drive capability.

Hybrid Powertrain and Standard Equipment
Forester Hybrid models use an Atkinson/Miller-cycle 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine paired with electric motors and a lithium-ion battery, producing 194 combined horsepower, according to Subaru. Gas models use a 2.5-liter Boxer engine rated at 180 horsepower. Every trim pairs with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT).
All 2027 Forester trims carry at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and EyeSight Driver-Assist Technology. A 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster is standard on the Forester Wilderness and every hybrid trim.

The Forester Wilderness makes last year’s optional equipment package standard, Subaru says, and adds a StarTex-wrapped heated steering wheel and heated rear outboard seats for 2027. The trim carries a 3,500-pound towing capacity, a transmission cooler, a revised final drive gear ratio, and a full-size spare. The Forester Limited likewise folds in equipment previously offered as optional, including a Power Rear Gate, rain-sensing wipers, and a heated steering wheel.
One options package remains. The Forester Premium can add a Power Rear Gate and Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert for $1,200 MSRP. Premium paint costs $395, two-tone paint $495, and premium two-tone paint $890.
