Kia Corporation unveiled the EV2 at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show on January 9, marking the global premiere of its sixth dedicated electric vehicle. The compact B-SUV targets first-time EV buyers and urban drivers seeking an affordable entry point to Kia’s expanding electric lineup.
Highlights
- Range and battery options: The EV2 offers 42.2 kWh and 61.0 kWh battery configurations delivering up to 317 km and 448 km WLTP range, respectively.
- Fast charging capability: DC fast charging reaches 10-80% in 29-30 minutes, with 11 kW and 22 kW AC charging support.
- Bidirectional charging: Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality enables external power delivery.
- GT expansion: Kia also revealed the EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT, and EV5 GT performance variants alongside the EV2.

Platform and Dimensions
The EV2 is built on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which underpins the automaker’s dedicated EV architecture. Despite its compact classification, the vehicle delivers interior space comparable to larger segments.
Key dimensions:
- Length: 4,060 mm
- Width: 1,800 mm
- Height: 1,575 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,565 mm
- Cargo capacity: 362 liters (5-seater) or 403 liters (4-seater with sliding and reclining rear seats)
The cabin features a panoramic wide display integrating a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 5-inch climate panel, and 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Sliding and reclining rear seats provide up to 958 mm of legroom. A front trunk (frunk) adds additional storage capacity.

Powertrain and Charging Specifications
Two battery configurations address different range requirements. Both variants support rapid DC charging and dual-rate AC charging.
| Specification | Standard-Range | Long-Range |
|---|---|---|
| Battery capacity | 42.2 kWh | 61.0 kWh |
| Range (WLTP) | 317 km | 448 km |
| DC fast charge (10-80%) | 29 minutes | 30 minutes |
| AC charge (11 kW) | 4 hr 5 min | 5 hr 35 min |
| AC charge (22 kW) | 2 hr 35 min | 3 hr |
Kia notes that range figures are based on internal WLTP test conditions, with final certified figures to be announced later.
Driver Assistance and Safety Systems
The EV2 incorporates upper-segment advanced driver assistance technologies typically found in larger vehicles.
Standard ADAS features include:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2)
- Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2)
- Lane Following Assist 2 (LFA 2)
- Smart Cruise Control 2 (SCC2)
- Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA)
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
- Surround View Monitor (SVM)
- Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM)
Reduced A-pillar width and lower tailgate glass improve visibility and sightlines. The steering system uses a high-output column-type motor-driven power steering (C-MDPS) with an optimized ratio for urban maneuverability.

Connectivity and Convenience Features
The EV2 integrates Kia’s latest digital ecosystem and charging convenience technologies.
- Kia AI Assistant: Voice-activated conversational interface
- Digital Key 2.0: Smartphone-based vehicle access
- Plug & Charge: Automated payment at compatible charging stations
- EV Route Planner: Integrated charging stop navigation
- Wireless OTA updates: Over-the-air software updates
- Harman/Kardon premium audio system
- 100W USB-C charging port
- Pet Mode: Climate control for parked vehicle occupants
EV2 GT-Line Variant
The EV2 GT-Line adds visual enhancements and lifestyle-oriented design elements. Model-exclusive features include unique front and rear bumpers, body-colored garnishes, side-sill details, and dedicated 225/45 R19 tires.
Standard tire options across the lineup include 205/65 R16 and 215/50 R18 configurations.

New GT Performance Models
Alongside the EV2, Kia revealed three new electric GT models expanding its performance portfolio.
EV3 GT: Features a 215 kW dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with electronically controlled suspension. Interior upgrades include semi-bucket seats and GT-specific ambient lighting.
EV4 Hatchback GT: Combines a 215 kW dual-motor AWD powertrain with performance-oriented tires and 20-inch wheels. Digital enhancements include Virtual Gear Shift, active sound design, and dedicated GT driving modes.
EV5 GT: Targets the C-SUV segment with AWD, enhanced output, and GT-specific chassis tuning. The electronically controlled suspension includes a road-preview function for adaptive damping response.
All GT models feature dual-motor all-wheel drive, GT-specific chassis calibrations, and digital features coordinating power delivery, steering response, displays, and lighting.
Production Timeline
EV2 production begins Q1 2026 with the standard-range model. Long-range and GT-Line variants follow throughout 2026. Market launch timing will be announced closer to sales availability.
The EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT, and EV5 GT enter production in H2 2026.
