Kia Corporation has revealed the exterior design of its first dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV), the PV5, ahead of the upcoming 2025 Kia EV Day. The new lineup, which includes the PV5 Passenger Van and PV5 Cargo Van, highlights Kia’s commitment to redefining space and mobility with versatile designs and modular capabilities.
Previewed by the Concept PV5 at CES 2024, the mid-sized PV5 serves as the inaugural model under Kia’s PBV strategy. Designed with flexibility and customization in mind, the PV5 aims to cater to a diverse range of customer needs, offering both passenger and cargo configurations, with more variants to be revealed soon.

Key Highlights:
- Kia’s first PBV: PV5 Passenger and PV5 Cargo models unveiled.
- Modular design offers flexibility and extensive customization.
- Contemporary aesthetics blend Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy.
- Distinct configurations: Passenger Van for comfort and Cargo Van for optimized freight transport.
- Full details and derivatives to be revealed at the 2025 Kia EV Day.
Innovative Design Philosophy
Both PV5 models reflect Kia’s “Opposites United” design approach, combining sleek upper body lines with a robust lower section. A bold front fascia features signature technical lighting integrated with the A-pillar, while black geometric wheel arches and rocker panels contribute to an off-road-capable appearance.
Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design, emphasized, “Each model confidently expresses a solid, bold, futuristic character and a highly capable attitude.”

PV5 Passenger Van Features
The Passenger Van offers a refined geometric profile, large windows for enhanced visibility, and a low beltline that accentuates its modern aesthetic. Black graphic glass surrounds highlight the window area, while the rear features a single lift-up tailgate above a sturdy bumper, ensuring a cohesive and robust design.
PV5 Cargo Van Features
The Cargo Van mirrors the Passenger’s geometric design but adopts a boxier profile for enhanced cargo space. Twin side-opening tailgate doors provide easy access for loading, while the streamlined design emphasizes practicality without compromising aesthetics.

Looking Ahead
Kia will further elaborate on the PV5 lineup during the 2025 Kia EV Day on February 24 in Tarragona, Spain. The event will showcase PV5 derivative models, various conversion options, and Kia’s broader PBV strategy. Detailed product features will follow on February 27, with a full video presentation airing on Kia’s YouTube channel in March.
The Kia PV5 is set to redefine space and mobility in the PBV market, offering unmatched flexibility and design innovation for both personal and commercial users.
