Kia UK has named Ohme as its preferred electric vehicle charging partner for its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) Centres, extending a smart-charging solution to commercial customers across the automaker’s retailer network. Ohme will work alongside fleet services provider Radius to offer Kia retailers a combined home-and-depot charging package, aligning the rollout with the brand’s all-electric commercial vehicle lineup.
Highlights
- Ohme becomes preferred charging partner across Kia UK’s PBV Centres
- Radius partnership delivers combined home and depot charging for fleet and retail customers
- Kia PV5 Cargo full charge priced at roughly £5.70 (~$7.70 USD) on a dynamic tariff
- Deal extends Hyundai Motor Group’s existing UK relationship with Ohme into commercial segment
Partnership Scope and Structure
The arrangement covers both retail and fleet customers purchasing Kia’s PBV range, including the PV5 Passenger and PV5 Cargo models. Under the agreement, Kia’s PBV dealers can offer charging hardware and installation as part of the vehicle sales process rather than directing customers to third-party providers. Radius handles the depot-charging side for business buyers, while Ohme supplies the home-charging component.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, said: “Providing our PBV customers with an inclusive mobility service for their businesses is a crucial part of our strategy, and convenient charging goes hand-in-hand with our fully electric range of commercial vehicles. Our partnership with Ohme and Radius is a natural pairing, which offers the best charging solutions for a variety of customer needs. With this partnership in place, our PBV dealer partners can now offer an end-to-end commercial vehicle solution, backed with award winning product, renowned service and seamless usability.”
Charging Economics for the PV5 Cargo
According to Ohme, a full charge of the PV5 Cargo’s 71.2 kWh battery can cost approximately £5.70 (~$7.70 USD) when paired with a dynamic tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go, which is quoted in the source material at 8.0p/kWh (~10.8¢/kWh USD). That figure corresponds to the PV5 Cargo’s 258-mile WLTP range, a manufacturer-reported figure that typically overstates real-world performance.
Ohme’s chargers draw on live grid data and automatically shift charging sessions to the lowest-cost or greenest windows available on a given tariff. The company also markets CO2 reporting data that it says supports compliance with the UK’s Sustainability Disclosure Requirements, in force since the start of 2026.
Fit Within Hyundai Motor Group’s UK Charging Strategy
The Kia deal adds a commercial-vehicle dimension to a charging relationship already established across Hyundai Motor Group’s UK passenger brands. Ohme is the official home charging partner for Hyundai in the UK and Genesis, and for Hyundai in France. It also serves as the charger provider for Motability Operations, the UK’s largest fleet operator, and has collected two Business Motoring awards for its electric charging and electric van charging offerings.
Peter McDonald of Ohme said: “We’re excited to be working with Kia’s retailers and supporting their customer, to help make the EV transition easier and bring the Ohme benefits of easy charging and low running costs. Whether it’s retail customers with the PV5 passenger model or fleet customers with the Cargo versions, Ohme is committed to ensuring that no driver or fleet is left behind with the e-mobility transition.”
