L-Charge Unveils 60 kW Mobile EV Charging Vehicle

L-Charge launches a 60 kW mobile EV charging vehicle combining DC fast charging with full fleet service capabilities, targeting tow operators and municipalities with PTO-powered, grid-independent operation.

L-Charge has launched its Mobile EV Charging & Roadside Assistance Vehicle, a 60 kW DC fast charging system integrated into a full-service fleet truck. The platform targets tow operators, fleet managers, and municipalities requiring mobile charging without infrastructure dependencies.

Highlights

  • 60 kW DC fast charging adds 35–50 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes
  • PTO-powered system enables up to 15 hours of continuous charging without batteries or grid connection
  • No CDL required — single vehicle eliminates trailer towing and storage complexity
  • Full service truck capabilities retained, including air compressor, crane, lift gate, and tool storage

Technical Architecture and Charging Specifications

The vehicle uses a power take-off (PTO) system that draws power directly from the truck’s engine and fuel supply. This design eliminates onboard battery packs and additional fuel tanks while enabling extended operation in remote locations.

L-Charge states it engineered the smallest 60 kW mobile DC fast charger available, preserving full truck bed and storage compartment access for standard fleet and roadside operations.

Integrated Service Truck Capabilities

The platform retains conventional service vehicle functions:

  • Air compressor and tire service
  • Fluid storage and top-off
  • Service crane and lift gate
  • Tool storage and standard towing
  • ICE and EV support

“This vehicle was built to solve a need in the market for true mobile charging,” said Stephen Kelley, CEO of L-Charge. “It’s a service truck first — with high-power EV charging integrated in a way that doesn’t compromise space, safety, or productivity.”

Target Applications

L-Charge identifies several primary use cases for the vehicle:

  • Towing and roadside assistance operators seeking EV charging service revenue and faster roadside operations
  • Municipal fleets transitioning from ICE vehicles during infrastructure development phases
  • Fleet operators requiring mobile alternatives to permanent charging installations, which can exceed $100,000 for 60 kW fixed systems
  • EV rescue services for vehicles that have depleted their charge

Operational Advantages

Traditional mobile chargers often use large battery packs or generators that occupy entire truck beds, limiting tool and equipment storage. The L-Charge system addresses this constraint through compact charger integration.

The single-vehicle design also eliminates CDL requirements associated with mobile charging trailers exceeding 10,000 lbs, simplifying dispatch and staffing logistics.

Availability

The Mobile EV Charging & Roadside Assistance Vehicle is manufactured in California and available through Sourcewell procurement contracts.
