Lucid Group has officially rolled out Android Auto™ compatibility for all its Lucid Air electric vehicles through a significant over-the-air (OTA) software update. This highly anticipated upgrade, delivered via Lucid OS 2.7.0, allows owners in North America and Europe to integrate their Android smartphones with the vehicle’s infotainment system for a more connected and convenient driving experience. The update addresses a top request from the Lucid owner community, underscoring the company’s commitment to continuously improving its vehicles post-purchase.
Key Highlights
- Software Update: Android Auto is now available on all Lucid Air models through the Lucid OS 2.7.0 over-the-air update.
- Seamless Integration: Owners can access popular smartphone features like maps, media, and messaging apps directly on the Air’s expansive 34-inch Glass Cockpit display.
- Flexible Connectivity: The system supports both wired connections via USB and wireless connections for compatible smartphones.
- Future Support: Lucid has confirmed that Android Auto compatibility will also be available for the upcoming Lucid Gravity SUV.

An Enhanced In-Car Experience
The integration of Android Auto provides Lucid Air drivers with seamless access to their digital lives while on the move. By projecting familiar apps onto the vehicle’s massive 34-inch Glass Cockpit, the system enhances both convenience and comfort without compromising the sophisticated user interface. According to Dr. Jean-Philippe Gauthier, Head of Software Engineering for Lucid, this update builds upon the company’s “commitment to compromising nothing.”
How to Connect
To utilize this new feature, Lucid Air owners need an Android phone running Android 9.0 or higher, an active data plan, and a quality USB cable for a wired connection.
For those who prefer a cable-free experience, wireless Android Auto is available for any phone with Android 11 or higher, allowing the device to connect automatically without being plugged in. Lucid provides detailed instructions for both connection methods on its official knowledge center website.

A Response to Owner Feedback
The decision to add Android Auto was driven directly by customer demand. “Android Auto is one of the most requested features by Lucid owners, and we are delighted to announce that we have begun rolling out a software update to add this capability,” stated Dr. Gauthier. This rollout demonstrates Lucid’s focus on listening to its user base and delivering functional enhancements that improve the ownership experience over time. The company’s vertically integrated approach and state-of-the-art technology enable it to deploy such significant updates efficiently.
